"There's sound inside. Can't hear it well at all. Callsign then numbers." - ah well forget that idea then

Brakhage, Friday, 26 April 2013 21:20 (thirteen years ago)

http://youtu.be/uZXFSngACXo also not available on mobile devices

StanM, Friday, 26 April 2013 21:23 (thirteen years ago)

Anyway. Looks like we'll know all the numbers but still have no clue to what they mean.

PHASE TWO

StanM, Friday, 26 April 2013 21:40 (thirteen years ago)

Did anybody hear that?

ヘイシグ・ブローズ (MaresNest), Friday, 26 April 2013 21:53 (thirteen years ago)

I would kill for a Beigel Bake right now.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Friday, 26 April 2013 21:56 (thirteen years ago)

I've had that UStream link open for 20 mins or so, then I hear this weird voice speaking in a foreign language for like 6 seconds. I'm scrambling through my tabs to see if I've got a page open with an ad on it (I hadn't) so I'm sure it came from the UStream link, now the channel is offline. I am spooked.

ヘイシグ・ブローズ (MaresNest), Friday, 26 April 2013 22:05 (thirteen years ago)

Now RT are tweeting quotes from Close Encounters

Bastards.

Le Bateau Ivre, Friday, 26 April 2013 22:59 (thirteen years ago)

That link might be hinky, RT not opening at 12 as rumored.

ヘイシグ・ブローズ (MaresNest), Friday, 26 April 2013 23:00 (thirteen years ago)

xxpost : /yum is a standard feature on bandcamp, its mere presence doesn't mean BoC is using it.

StanM, Saturday, 27 April 2013 04:21 (thirteen years ago)

At the moment. this whole Rough Trade London thing appears to have been set up just to confirm that the NPR code is to be placed first. I wonder if this part was planned all along.

StanM, Saturday, 27 April 2013 04:33 (thirteen years ago)

Building and desert scene in the projection has been found (already, this internet sleuthing thing is quite something isn't it?)(when they don't point out the wrong bombing suspect)

I don't know, but I don't think it's significant in the search though.

Probably contains the final clue (if this is official, but it smells like it) - download and open in notepad ?

StanM, Saturday, 27 April 2013 09:35 (thirteen years ago)

as much as I'm excited by a new BoC album and as much as I'm a sucker for a long-winded tease of a campaign, I can't get into this thing. I mean we already know this is coming out in June, so whats the point really.

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Saturday, 27 April 2013 09:43 (thirteen years ago)

i literally have no idea what you people are going on about

we're up all night to get (s1ocki), Saturday, 27 April 2013 14:22 (thirteen years ago)

i hope they can decipher the code before the ants begin building structures

clouds, Saturday, 27 April 2013 16:20 (thirteen years ago)

How do we know the June date btw? I've seen a bunch of people referencing June 9, I wasn't sure if that was cos of the Hi Scores tune

...yep, we did. :)

@Clarknova1 I won't be able to sleep thanks to that music video. I guess you got my ratings. Well played, Mr. Nova.

Hmm...

699742, first slot, ok, that's the NPR/Rough Trade projection code again.

StanM, Sunday, 28 April 2013 06:19 (thirteen years ago)

intriguing - still with that Yermo gas station, but do they want someone to go find that building in the middle of the desert?

This could be the only one of the 5 clips that say something meaningful when played backwards - listen to clip at this link: http://www.reddit.com/r/boardsofcanada/comments/1d9j38/we_believe_weve_found_the_last_code/

/699742/628315/717228/936557/347996/519225/ ?

(there's still no clear idea what we're supposed to do with the numbers - are they a path that should work on some site somewhere? Are they to be put into a square/triangular/hexagonal number grid (then what?)? Do they decode to letters? I bet that says something like UNERDS or 6YR2GO for "6 years to go to our next release")

StanM, Sunday, 28 April 2013 11:02 (thirteen years ago)

are those nines or ones in the reversed audio?

koogs, Sunday, 28 April 2013 11:45 (thirteen years ago)

Reversed

(I presume the vinyl edition is being pressed by the Fact-magazine related Vinyl Factory?)

djh, Sunday, 28 April 2013 17:49 (thirteen years ago)

Doesn't help with the number quest, but the desert teaser video was by Neil Krug : https://twitter.com/honeybadgerco/status/328565498096807937
(he also made the one for http://www.honeybadgerco.com/directors/neil-krug/archive/boards-of-canada-in-a-beautiful-place-out-in-the-country/ )

theories aside, considering the chosen imagery of desolation and the desert, BoC is likely one of the only (hold on: the only) band i confidently feel could put the feeling of geography in music form... i can hear wind being a pervasive theme in between songs, the crackle of heat, the continual slamming of screen-door on an abandoned and sun-beaten midhouse

do you feel me

kelpolaris, Sunday, 28 April 2013 22:10 (thirteen years ago)

topological depth = kick

controversial vegan pregnancy (contenderizer), Sunday, 28 April 2013 22:12 (thirteen years ago)

judging by the gif info, the album is going to be called Cosecha (spanish for harvest).

Moka, Sunday, 28 April 2013 22:23 (thirteen years ago)

Also tbe title of one of the video codes used to read 'nuevas semillas' ( spanish for new seeds). By a user called "csch".

Moka, Sunday, 28 April 2013 22:27 (thirteen years ago)

the new album is inspired by a recent trip to spain, the southern deserted points, and one of the tracks is titled "ibiza" and features the sound of copulating girls in foreground of a child counting backwards

kelpolaris, Monday, 29 April 2013 00:32 (thirteen years ago)

this promotional "campaign" is kind of nuts, i love it

flesh, the devil, and a wolf (wolf) (amateurist), Monday, 29 April 2013 00:48 (thirteen years ago)

the new album is inspired by the warm smell of carnitas rising up through the air.

Jersey Al (Albert R. Broccoli), Monday, 29 April 2013 01:25 (thirteen years ago)

I think the guitars on the campfire headphase are pretty sweet, geogaddi no matter how good is way too fucking scary... v excited though, this should be the album of the year.

i wouldn't mistake myself for anyone. (wolves lacan), Monday, 29 April 2013 07:20 (thirteen years ago)

this should be the album of the year.

i love BoC, but this is based off of...a few 20 second clips?

wait nm, just read this, and now i also agree that it will be album of the year

Is it me or does the small snippet sound like something straight off Music/Children or Geodaddi, rather than something that could have fit on Campfire?

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Monday, 29 April 2013 13:09 (thirteen years ago)

lol did you read the Daft Punk thread?

Call me at **BITCOIN (DJP), Monday, 29 April 2013 14:25 (thirteen years ago)

hahaha, i know i know, but from THOSE 30 second clips it was pretty easy to tell that the song was going to be a classic slice of modern disco (the rest of the album remains a mystery of course). whereas the BoC clips don't suggest much except that it's going to be scary again. btw, two thumbs up to the possibility of scurry BoC!
