i'm sure nobody will think to make a fan edit like that

his vocals on the verses are really great, there's something very old school in the looseness of the singing, the tossed off little ahhs and hmms and shit
― J0rdan S., Friday, 19 April 2013 21:06 (thirteen years ago)
yeah i actually like the way he sounds like he's just woken up during the first verse

best part of this song is the outro, rest is pleasant, not feeling the vocal whatsoever. this is a decent driving around town jam but it's not transcendent like their peak.

hahaha i like how they have a sound that sounds like it's from the year 4000, but its STILL not the one he deems the most futuristic on the album

TouchThis song marks the second part of the album. It is at this point we're we met with sound engineer, Paul Williams. Paul Williams visited us in the studio and from this meeting something very cinematic and very narrative(?) was born. "Touch" clearly defines the psychedelic aspect of "Random Access Memories." This piece is made up of 250 different tracks, this is a complicated, crazy piece.

amazing that a band with such a hugely effective buzz/internet/social media strategy (hence the incredible hype itt) doesn't even have a twitter account

unless
ya, this would be great as an instrumental or w a different singer. and the lyrics jeez...cornball central haha... i cant sing along to these lyrics without cringing inside or laughing... granted, dance music isnt meant to have profound lyrics but these are just bad...sigh.

Okay, first up... what's with the Pharrell hate? Is there some sort of venn-circle diagram that shows Daft Punk listeners and the immense amount of awesome stuff Pharrell has touched bizarrely don't overlap, which explains this? Or is it specifically his singing, like, does Pharrell singing ruin Shake Ya Ass for you? 'cause to my ears that's music at it's most exuberant and who would hate that? Or is it just not on your radar? I don't know.
And also, part of the charm and joy of this track, for me at least, is that it's four producers playing together. There is no front man and it's not meant to break down like that. It's like a supergroup of producers. It's very mannered and conceived in the way music nerds make things.

he's off on "faaaar", he sounds tired on the verse, but it's a v likeable sweet performance

cause to my ears that's music at it's most exuberant and who would hate that?
otm, it sounds luminous, effervescent, magnificently happy just to be doing this one nice thing for you and your ears. pharrell isn't exactly blowing me away, but he slots right in and supports the vibe. he's raising the cup, and that's all that's really required.
― I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Saturday, 20 April 2013 00:34 (thirteen years ago)
Okay, first up... what's with the Pharrell hate?
there isn't much of it on here but some people who don't hate him are saying his vocal is poor. fine (i agree) - w/r/t to others who do hate - it's fine to hate pharrell's vocals or his vocal on this, at least, and wish he wasn't on it.

Just been played on Radio Six and I thought it sounded awesome. I like Pharrells voice in this, its pretty funky. The sound is interesting and has some good beats. We'll see if it gets played to death and loses its charm, which I always think is a good durability test.
― staying up all night to get lucky (captain rosie), Saturday, 20 April 2013 11:38 (thirteen years ago)
if you don't already think pharrell has kind of pissed on this then here you go http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xz612n_daft-punk-ft-pharell-get-lucky-first-live-performance-htc-concert_music you're welcome I don't hate pharrell but his vid for the collaborators thing also the lamest he seems such a lamebrain
on the record the multitrack vocal chorus is actually fine but the verses particularly the opening one sound clumsily dumped on top of music plus lyrics bad
