I looped 1:06 to 1:14 of this silly 'get lucky' edit in djay and that's all I've been listening to for the last ten minutes

3:25 to 3:43 is better

You meant the part where he sings, "We're up all night to get lucky" over and over wither Chic piano in the bgd?
gotta put a stop to this bootleg shit

Listening again, I like--and could believe--the synth outro but just don't buy the part where the pre-chorus and vocoder are playing simultaneously.
― Naive Teen Idol, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:25 (thirteen years ago)
that part of the song was featured in a youtube clip
― iatee, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:28 (thirteen years ago)

Well from the various Collaborators videos we know there is an extended intro and a part with some guitar soloing
― MarkoP, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:34 (thirteen years ago)
they'd'vebuoy away with it if diamonddave85 just listened to the stream like any normal person

Couldn't that be from the other song that Niles is on?

I mean the little bit you can hear in the background in here @1:43https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QVtHogFrI0
― MarkoP, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:40 (thirteen years ago)
Not the stuff that he was playing in that other video by himself. That's likely from a different song.

I kind of like the idea that a Canadian radio station put together with a fake Pharrell and waited until the day it was serviced to radio to accidentally release it on their website.
― sandra dayo connor (The Reverend), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 23:12 (thirteen years ago)
kinda garbled that sentence but you know
Well here's some more evidence that it's clearly a conspiracy concocted by Canadians:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJBlcM-uwIc

This is the same mix we've been debating all day.
Am I the only one who thinks the real song will not have the same lyrics in all pre-chorus?
Also, the second iteration of the vocoder section is awesome -- sounds like Roger Troutman has risen from the grave.
― Naive Teen Idol, Thursday, 18 April 2013 00:36 (thirteen years ago)
sorry, commenters on soundcloud pretty excited about that "joke"
― I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Thursday, 18 April 2013 00:37 (thirteen years ago)
also, i find that if i turn the bass up, it sounds better. anyone else notice this? is there a special kind of sound they're using?
― I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Thursday, 18 April 2013 00:38 (thirteen years ago)
so how things appeared to me:
1. S0nic 102.9 played a fan-made edit that used all of the available clips on the radio. 2. Accidentally, they posted the mp3 of the real radio edit on their website, which a ton of people managed to download.3. They realized they had posted the real radio edit, changed the video on the website to point to a fan-made edit instead.4. But the mp3 was still available on their server, so people continued to download it. 5. They finally clued in and removed the mp3 from their server.
Of course this doesn't mean it's mixed, mastered, real, full, or whatever. But I doubt it's a fucking Pharrell impersonator!
― bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Thursday, 18 April 2013 00:57 (thirteen years ago)
it does sound unmastered, or poorly mannered or something. the way the vocals drop in is really clumsy. not necessarily bad (hedging), but jarring and not what i'm used to hearing in a would-be pop radio smash.
― I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Thursday, 18 April 2013 01:03 (thirteen years ago)
lol, "mannered". MASTERED
yeah, that sequence of events is what it appears to me happened
― sandra dayo connor (The Reverend), Thursday, 18 April 2013 01:03 (thirteen years ago)
it doesn't sound unmastered, it just sounds like the 128kbps mp3 it is
― sandra dayo connor (The Reverend), Thursday, 18 April 2013 01:04 (thirteen years ago)
yeah mastered duh doy
― bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Thursday, 18 April 2013 01:04 (thirteen years ago)
xp ok yeah true
― I have many lovely lacy nightgowns (contenderizer), Thursday, 18 April 2013 01:05 (thirteen years ago)
the robot makes you get lucky
And now they don't even have the post about the fake version on their website.
And it looks like they haven't even tried playing the song again on the air.

guys, the present has no ribbon
the robots are just giving a present to their fans, in snippets: some fake, some real, some imagined, some felt.
the album will never actually be released, it will exist only as fan-edits of uncertain etiology. but maybe we'll get lucky ;)

No more poorly than the Chic mix of Diana.
