If it's fake then the faker has recorded a perfect groovy punctuating piano part to go underneath the spliced vocals, in which case give the guy a contract. (or my ears are lying, in which case never mind)

give me back my 200 dollars (NotEnough), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 20:11 (thirteen years ago)

Well sonic themselves are confirming it's actually fake (albeit similar to the real thing). Could be they fear for their lives.

the version they played on the radio was fake
the version they accidentally posted was not

Upthread, like half an hour before the leak, I said the Belgium station Studio Brussel got the track and would premiere it on Friday.

No that it leaked and is all over the internet, they just played it anyway, saying it's out there now, so no need to wait.

They said they were playing the version that was suddenly all over Twitter and everyone was going to find out on Friday whether or not this is the real deal - xpost

What did it sound like LBI?

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 20:25 (thirteen years ago)

s0nic is covering their asses. they had the real thing up for download, then took it down and replaced it with a fanmade edit, saying "oh this is close to the real thing"

I just hope that in the end Sonic doesn't get in big trouble for this. They're pretty decent for a modern rock station.

MarkoP, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 20:40 (thirteen years ago)

I like that the vocoder enters & leaves politely instead of hogging the whole last half.

LADIES ONLY PHYCHIC NIGHT (crüt), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 20:40 (thirteen years ago)

they'd'vebuoy away with it if diamonddave85 just listened to the stream like any normal person

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 20:44 (thirteen years ago)

I too hope the radio station doesn't get in too much trouble, but I am kind of astonished that they thought it was an acceptable thing to just upload the full song to their website as soon as they got it

LADIES ONLY PHYCHIC NIGHT (crüt), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 20:44 (thirteen years ago)

bouy wtf? got

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 20:44 (thirteen years ago)

i've had some bowie freak friends coming up to me wanting to talk about it (they love it) and i'm guessing they'll catch on i am in no hurry to hear new david bowie but the bowie threads around here made it sound like it might actually be good.

It's not. Funny how for all the complaints he got in the seventies and eighties about being a grand orchestrator of hype and nothing more that this album really does shrivel and die beside the hype.

you are a distinct individual and I say that as a fan

I looped 1:06 to 1:14 of this silly 'get lucky' edit in djay and that's all I've been listening to for the last ten minutes

You meant the part where he sings, "We're up all night to get lucky" over and over wither Chic piano in the bgd?

Naive Teen Idol, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:23 (thirteen years ago)

3:25 to 3:43 is better

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:24 (thirteen years ago)

Listening again, I like--and could believe--the synth outro but just don't buy the part where the pre-chorus and vocoder are playing simultaneously.

Naive Teen Idol, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:25 (thirteen years ago)

that part of the song was featured in a youtube clip

iatee, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:28 (thirteen years ago)

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:34 (thirteen years ago)

Well from the various Collaborators videos we know there is an extended intro and a part with some guitar soloing

MarkoP, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 21:34 (thirteen years ago)

Couldn't that be from the other song that Niles is on?

Not the stuff that he was playing in that other video by himself. That's likely from a different song.

I kind of like the idea that a Canadian radio station put together with a fake Pharrell and waited until the day it was serviced to radio to accidentally release it on their website.

sandra dayo connor (The Reverend), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 23:12 (thirteen years ago)

kinda garbled that sentence but you know

sandra dayo connor (The Reverend), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 23:12 (thirteen years ago)

Well here's some more evidence that it's clearly a conspiracy concocted by Canadians:
