HAPPY DAY

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:10 (thirteen years ago)

at least it's real new lyrics/parts of the song

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:10 (thirteen years ago)

I don't like how Pharrell's voice just sort of drops out of the mix after the first chorus without any other dynamic change in the mix. Otherwise I am cool w/this.

LADIES ONLY PHYCHIC NIGHT (crüt), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:11 (thirteen years ago)

does anyone do mashups? could you drop the WHEN YOU THINK OF HARVEY THINK OF A HARLEY VERSE from lapdance on this?

ums (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:21 (thirteen years ago)

Did ILX just leak the daft punk single?

Gosh.

give me back my 200 dollars (NotEnough), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:22 (thirteen years ago)

i think we just did?

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:23 (thirteen years ago)

technically sonic 102.9 did but ya know

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:23 (thirteen years ago)

We're just enjoying the benefits of their foibles.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:24 (thirteen years ago)

I'm getting sceptical. Could this be the ad looped w/someone 'doing' Pharrell on the new verses, then adding cool synths at the end?

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:29 (thirteen years ago)

i don't think you can do pharrell that well?

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:29 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah seems very difficult to "do" Pharrell this way tbh

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:32 (thirteen years ago)

I'm determined to make myself sick of this song by the time it's released on Friday.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:33 (thirteen years ago)

taht's not what this is tho

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:34 (thirteen years ago)

yeah this is not fake

iatee, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:34 (thirteen years ago)

Right. COS is talking about the hackjob that showed up on Tumblr last weekend after the SNL ad aired.

This is not that. This is a proper single edit with new verses and outro and some actual structure.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:35 (thirteen years ago)

the outro fits the song way too well to be fake

iatee, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:38 (thirteen years ago)

There's nothing in this version that's not in the official clips except for the extra verses and the synth noodles at the end. So, editing know-how + halfway decent Pharrell impersonator + synth = this version.

Nile Rodgers kept talking about one-time events, which are lacking here. There are some cool guitar bits in the intro to the collaborators videos that don't crop up in this version.

Sounds like an elaborate fake to me. If it is real it's pretty disappointing...

Hans Holbein (Chinchilla Volapük), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:40 (thirteen years ago)

LOL @ people who yell "hoax!" at everything for the pleasure of being right one time in ten

the fakers would have to have access to french speakers to come up w/ such high quality 'english lyrics written by french native'

iatee, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:41 (thirteen years ago)

maybe they also had something to do w/ the boston bombing come to think of it

iatee, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:41 (thirteen years ago)

jesus you really think this is a pharrell impersonator?!

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:42 (thirteen years ago)

Is there a country with french and english speakers, I can't think of one

Ismael Klata, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:45 (thirteen years ago)

FALSE FLAG FALSE FLAG

Oh come on guys, this is clearly the real deal.

Fetchboy, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:47 (thirteen years ago)

If this is an impersonator, it's a pretty amazing job. But I don't think so — I think we have our radio edit.

warm winds and clear skies, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:49 (thirteen years ago)

Curious why the fade-out just cuts out like that though.

warm winds and clear skies, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

how quickly we have forgotten Human After All

frogbs, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:50 (thirteen years ago)

digging this, though it is a little bit (tiny bit) underwhelming after the promise of that teaser. holding out for the album version. no opinion on whether or not it's real. if it's a fake, somebody did a bang up job.

this video is awesome btw. i wanna ride in the daft punk truck

乒乓, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 17:59 (thirteen years ago)

I think it IS actually "The present has no ribbon." lol.

LADIES ONLY PHYCHIC NIGHT (crüt), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:03 (thirteen years ago)

now i'm wondering if any full length version of the song can live up to the teaser

cheeseburger, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:05 (thirteen years ago)

again lyrics that can only have been written by a French person or possibly a Canadian xp

iatee, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:05 (thirteen years ago)

i want a single edit that focuses on the vocoder

乒乓, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:06 (thirteen years ago)

yeah sounds solid. curious what a more song based daft punk will sound like, i know they're not crazy about the edm wave they helped inspire and they're looking to 'go forward by going back' or whatever but 'get lucky' sounds way more like something that can blow up on radio in 2013 than 'digital love' or even 'one more time' did in 2001. curious also to see how ppl's expectations are coloring their reactions, my mindset is 'there's no way they're reinventing the wheel or whatever again, if this is just a good solid daft punk album i'll be happy, if the gap between this and discovery is only as narrow as the gap between 20/20 and fs/ls - very doable - i'll be ecstatic, if this thing is somehow as equal to discovery as mbv was to loveless my mind will be blown and i'll believe in god' and so so far i've been very happy, everything has at least met my expectations (pharell concerns alleviated by 'get lucky', now i'm just worried about casablancas). otoh a friend of mine that was looking forward to this like it was the phantom menace and was expecting them to at least equal discovery was near devastated by that coachella clip the second he saw pharell's face. my take is this - daft punk had more mystique than basement jaxx back in the day cuz there was more mystery to them and they hyperfocused and executed on two different ideas for their first two album, real termite art, while basement jaxx were never quite that focused, they always just threw a fun sloppy party. plus daft punk managed some level of mainstream success, far more than basement jaxx (in the us at least). the actual gap between the two wasn't much though i'd argue - i'd take remedy by a hair over homework, discovery by two hairs over rooty. neverminding kish kash, which at the time i thought was at least on a par w/ rooty but no sounds like a definite step down if still leagues better than human after all and obv sadly everything basement jaxx have done since, we're a decade out from either of these acts peaks and expecting either to suddenly get that genie back in the bottle following either years of visible decline or years of two efforts that 'don't count' and one amazing oldies tour is setting yrself up for disappointment.

balls, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:07 (thirteen years ago)

i want the whole album

ְ֮֠֓֟֬֩ (gr8080), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:07 (thirteen years ago)

102.9 has replaced the page with a youtube embed of the fake, and removed all comments from their fb page from people talking about the accidental leak, yet the direct url is still live. Der.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:08 (thirteen years ago)

The present has no limit?

warm winds and clear skies, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:09 (thirteen years ago)

At 2:20 it sounds like the robot voice is saying "we're a-all mexican"

Fetchboy, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:10 (thirteen years ago)

i mean i had crazy expectations about the dj koze and so was crazy disappointed by it for no good reason, my reaction to matthew dear was the same as my friend's to pharrell (and i like matthew dear alot, he just does not work on that track); now i've gotten over whatever baggaged i carried in and i'm loving the album, if the new daft punk is half as good i'll be blown away. listen w/o prejudice yall.

balls, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 18:11 (thirteen years ago)

that makes me sense, but "ribbon" fits with "gift" in the next bar
