btw, now that we have the tracklist and a month to kill : ILX pre-cover ?

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 08:47 (thirteen years ago)

No Prince on this...this sounds like prime 'Off The Wall' period MJ...but the next Daft Punk album...the Minneapolis tribute??...

The Pastiche Liberation Front (sonnyboy), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 08:54 (thirteen years ago)

yeah if there's one pre-cover project that is needed, it's this one

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 08:59 (thirteen years ago)

actually, "discovery" was kind of a Prince tribute already (damn) !

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 09:11 (thirteen years ago)

re ILX pre-cover, I guess "get lucky" should be excluded... unless someone feels like confronting this monster !

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 09:20 (thirteen years ago)

not really hearing any Prince in Discovery

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 10:08 (thirteen years ago)

From 2:06. They're fans, of course but that's about it.

Popture, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 10:16 (thirteen years ago)

well, I was exaggerating a bit... but there's a lot on Discovery that sounds like Prince (especially "Prince", the album).
Digital love, for instance.

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 10:42 (thirteen years ago)

and there's a sample of "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" on short circuit !

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 10:45 (thirteen years ago)

btw, now that we have the tracklist and a month to kill : ILX pre-cover ?

Can't we just pull a bunch of those shit remixes on YouTube and call it even?

Naive Teen Idol, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 12:08 (thirteen years ago)

"the next Daft Punk album"

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 17 April 2013 12:12 (thirteen years ago)

i still won't believe this one is real until it's in my hands

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:03 (thirteen years ago)

then you don't get it.

zero dark (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:10 (thirteen years ago)

i get

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:12 (thirteen years ago)

A friend who is in a position to know has heard it and says it's really great, so my general optimism about this has ratcheted up bigtime.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:12 (thirteen years ago)

apropos of nothing, i'm really impressed with how good labels are at preventing leaks now, good job labels

乒乓, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:14 (thirteen years ago)

I saw the commercial for this on saturday nite live

Why did pharrell have to be involved with this??
Groove sounded good
I forgot that Nile Rogers wears that weird dread wig

ums (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:33 (thirteen years ago)

Why did pharrell have to be involved with this??

Why not.

Groove sounded good

It's Daft Punk with Nile Rodgers. Duh.

I forgot that Nile Rogers wears that weird dread wig

Cut him a break. Dude's a cancer survivor.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:36 (thirteen years ago)

good answers.

zero dark (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:40 (thirteen years ago)

I've never had a problem with Skateboard P.

jaymc, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:43 (thirteen years ago)

Pharrell is good in this.
I don't see who could have been better at his place (especially since I think he wrote part/or all the vocal melody/harmonies).

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:44 (thirteen years ago)

i think the argument is that they never needed a famous guest vocalist before, nobody needs to be in "his place"

some dude, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:52 (thirteen years ago)

idk i think it's cool that they're using well known vocalists... i don't think we need another album that sounds like discovery

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:53 (thirteen years ago)

i don't think they "needed" pharrell but simply wanted him

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:56 (thirteen years ago)

i think they "worked" with him

zero dark (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:57 (thirteen years ago)

*at home with Daft Punk*

"Who's that one guy, that sings?"
"Accessing."

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:57 (thirteen years ago)

lol

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 14:58 (thirteen years ago)

well, even if we admit DP would have wrote the same melody/harmonies by themselves, I don't think the song would have been better if they had sung in themselves.
it would have lacked the smooth/rnb/MJ thing.

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:05 (thirteen years ago)

Just be glad it's not Chris Brown.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:06 (thirteen years ago)

I think a robot would have been fine for the Lucky lead. I like the falsetto he's going for but find Pharell quite weak vocally.

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:06 (thirteen years ago)

should be taylor swift

ְ֮֠֓֟֬֩ (gr8080), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:06 (thirteen years ago)

Pretty stoked they didn't collab with Maroon 5.

I would see a band called Live Filter Sponge

Call me at **BITCOIN (DJP), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:17 (thirteen years ago)

johnny fever those solid matter of fact answers to my question

though i disagree about pharrell

ums (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:22 (thirteen years ago)

I think a robot would have been fine for the Lucky lead. I like the falsetto he's going for but find Pharell quite weak vocally.

nah, it wouldn't be as smooth, warm... and sexy sung by the robots !

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:24 (thirteen years ago)

lol (xpost)

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:24 (thirteen years ago)

The guest vocalists are the biggest thing making me wary of this album.

誤訳侮辱, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:28 (thirteen years ago)

what's J.C. Chasez doing these days

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:30 (thirteen years ago)

cuz that worked out so well for basement jaxx

zero dark (s1ocki), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:32 (thirteen years ago)

The JC song was one of the best ones on Kish Kash...

bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:33 (thirteen years ago)

It did. Song's good.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:33 (thirteen years ago)

I'm just disapointed that they didn't decide to work with Janelle Monae. Or maybe that's too obvious.

MarkoP, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:34 (thirteen years ago)

they should work with all the people mentioned in "teachers" (well, those who are alive) !

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:37 (thirteen years ago)

And aren't too busy selling headphones

MarkoP, Wednesday, 17 April 2013 15:38 (thirteen years ago)
