Am I the only one who watches that clip of Nile and thinks of Dave Chappelle's Rick James impersonation?

Naive Teen Idol, Sunday, 14 April 2013 18:42 (thirteen years ago)

It's the album that's the blockbuster, not this track per se. It's even being marketed a bit like one.

Matt DC, Sunday, 14 April 2013 18:43 (thirteen years ago)

I find him dull lately. His vocal on that Lamar track is alright.

the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 14 April 2013 18:43 (thirteen years ago)

This is the first "real" track (not just snippet) that has been heard right? Prime placement at Coachella and SNL spot (watched the SNL spot in real time and it had the connotations of a big event) - seems like they are grooming this as a blockbuster first single.

"does this sound like a daft punk song molested by itself"

YES, this is the sound of discovery-era daft punk circa inbreeding w itself and producing a misshapen cretin of a song

the late great, Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:05 (thirteen years ago)

this song isnt even a robot its a cyborg, disgusting

If there's any album I'm cool with fucking itself, it's Discovery, so great.

Wait is this too racially impure or too inbred? You can't have it both ways.

Matt DC, Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:12 (thirteen years ago)

too inbred

the late great, Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:13 (thirteen years ago)

You can leave it to ilx to turn a good, well-behaving thread about something nice into

funny how this whole campaign has made me completely forget about Human After All

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:23 (thirteen years ago)

yeah in the nile/moroder/todd videos there are flashes of homework and discovery but human after all is noticeably absent

ְ֮֠֓֟֬֩ (gr8080), Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:25 (thirteen years ago)

Which is a very good thing

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:26 (thirteen years ago)

the rolling stone interview made them sound like they were p much completely disavowing EDM

yeah I'm excited for this but their publicity campaign about how they are perfectionists does kinda clash w/ the fact that their only studio album in the last 10 years was a made in 2 weeks half-baked album

iatee, Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:30 (thirteen years ago)

I still hope for the best but I hate to say I don't like this song that much. It's not bad but idgi.

christmas candy bar (al leong), Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:30 (thirteen years ago)

'Make Love' is the only good song on 'Human After All'.

Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:31 (thirteen years ago)

At least of Human After All holds up well enough ... though any given selection of 10 to 12 Crydamoure tracks would've had it beat.

cacao nibs (Eric H.), Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:35 (thirteen years ago)

i like Pharrell plenty but the main point for me is Nile Motherfucking Rodgers + Daft Punk = hyperventilating

the late great, Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:39 (thirteen years ago)

I recently read through some of the original thread for Human After All thread and was actually kind of surprised as to how positive the initial reception to that was here. I was often under the impression that everyone hated that thing at first and didn't really grow to appreciate till much later.

truth bomb
the narrative of this campaign is pretty much that this is the 10 in the making follow-up to Discovery that's gonna blow people's mind

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Sunday, 14 April 2013 19:43 (thirteen years ago)

10 year in the making, that is
