i kind of hope this is the video for the song, just skateboard p, nile, and the robots jamming in the black

i think this could still fall a little flat, like there's a risk of it being a retro pastiche and the parts not really adding up or making sense, those lyrics have me a little worried and i'm not that impressed w/ pharrell's vocal. but then the chorus has a lovely melody and nile jamming is still just the best thing in the world. i'll definitely enjoy this fwiw.

They've never used a female vocalist have they? I know a lot of their vocals are fairly androgynous but it's still a bit weird

i like julian casablancas' voice, i don't think it's a troll as much as it feels a little focus grouped to me, like let's do a real album with all these real musicians, gotta include the strokes guy and the animal collective guy. hmm idk. anyway, i hope they gave todd edwards carte blanche.

"High Life" seems specifically female, but yeah, I'd never thought about their general lack of female vocals before.

yeah, that objectification of male sexuality in French electronic music has always been interesting to me (it's pretty much the vibe to all French house/disco, but also Air's "Sexy Boy", Talkie Walkie... and I suppose the sensibility includes a lot of continental house/disco/techno guys as well... tho nobody does it like the French). def a vibe that would code differently for mainstream America

I think Julian Casablancas got in there because they were both recording at Electric Lady studios at the time.

the relative lack of late-night drunken Coachella hooting and hollering in that clip is kinda interesting to me. like, did everyone actually shut the f up and listen??

also, i don't think Pharrell sux. i like him. but i don't think i think about things like "does Pharrell sux" as much as some do.

yes, i wonder what was happening with the crowd. not exactly the same reaction as a teaser clip of a cape movie at a comic convention.

Well, no, not joking. I kinda suspicious this is prolly fake but at the creators video (around min 10:45) he jams to a a song that he refers to as "the song of the summer" and it doesnt sound like get lucky. Im guessing is another one.... Could be this one if real.

Either way it sounds cool, would love to know who this is, if fake.

I remember when fakes for Human After All started moving around the internet, one of them was really good (not "Rocker"). I never did find out what it was.

this sounds like it took 5 mins to make. they'd chop nile's guitar to buggery like that? lol. that looped bassline figure? they don't do that. hugely compressed horrible horrible sounding bassline drowning everything out. those awfully programmed drums with those lol swooshes and that out of tune vocal snippet. pff.

I think the last album I was this hyped to hear was Born This Way, and, though other people had problems with it, I wasn't disappointed with it as an album. Some tracks were clunkers, but even the clunkers demanded my attention. I developed a relationship with that album, for better or worse, and still play it on a regular basis. What I'm saying is, even if the 1:42 of "Get Lucky" we've heard turns out to be the finest part of Random Access Memories, I'm so invested in digging deep into this album now that I can't imagine considering it a disappointment no matter what it sounds like.
