the title track is prob the most fascinating thing they've ever written

like they wrote a track called "save rock and roll" and not only got elton john to sing on it but also had him sing one of their old lines

so much fist pumping and woo in this I'm loving it

"phoenix" is so massive

never listened to "phoenix" and "my songs" in sequence but man everything is pitched at 100 percent for the first six minutes of this record

i love that run of the final 3 tracks at the end -- especially RatTatTat fkn courtney fuck yeah

i love when elton john pronounces "love" as "LUFF"

though I kinda wish this was 70's elton, his oldman elton low voice is a bit jarring at first

i never think of pete wentz as a bass player but that's a great bass line in "where did the party go" (a realization i come to whenever i listen to "w.a.m.s" also)

"where did the party go" and esp "miss missing you" are full prom dance

it is with out a doubt the first record in a new chapter of fall out boy. we made this music for ourselves and no one else at the end of the day. this is meant be played loud, with the windows down on summer nights. four friends with our backs to each other fighting in the darkness against anything and everything that is out there. we bowed our heads, took a knee and plugged back in.

Not sure if this is outside the scope of the conversation, but has anybody written anything about how FOB became such a critically respected, "important" band? I don't really understand that POV, but I'm interesting in learning how the consensus changed so drastically

i think the biggest roadblock for me w/ this record is how much i loved Stump's solo album and his lyric writing that going back to hearing him as the mouthpiece for rmde Wentz witticisms feels like a downgrade

Just interviewed Messrs Stump and Wentz for a podcast. Not a band I've ever taken much notice of, but genuinely delightful interviewees.

man, i wish i had your problems. i tried so damn hard with stump solo, really i did. wanted to love it, but could barely manage grudging respect. glad to see FOB back together.

there are ways in which the instrumentation/production doesn't remotely measure up to the band's, but as a showcase for his songwriting/vocals i thought it was pretty stellar.
