J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 15:07 (thirteen years ago)

so far astounding in how it seems to engage with modern pop whoa-whoa bullshit and make it actually great

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 15:07 (thirteen years ago)

hahaha holy shit this is great

Mordy, Monday, 8 April 2013 15:19 (thirteen years ago)

"Alone Together" first semi-dud imo, children chorus makes it worse not better, but even that sounds so glossy and huge and explosive that it's easy to forgive the retreading. "Phoenix" so insanely good.

Mordy, Monday, 8 April 2013 15:29 (thirteen years ago)

i basically pretend this album starts at "alone together" which is prob the most fall out boy thing on here

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 15:35 (thirteen years ago)

omg yesyesyes

i will take my fangirl ears off one I get over the excitment of omg a new FOB album imo

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 15:50 (thirteen years ago)

this album is just so good

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 15:51 (thirteen years ago)

Patrick's voice just gets better and better - he's like the little engine that could

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 15:52 (thirteen years ago)

i'm gonna tough it out til next week, ya'll have fun

乒乓, Monday, 8 April 2013 15:52 (thirteen years ago)

HOLY SHIT COURTNEY LOVE

Mordy, Monday, 8 April 2013 15:53 (thirteen years ago)

hoping that the love cameo is like marilynne faithful on metallica

乒乓, Monday, 8 April 2013 15:54 (thirteen years ago)

marilynne faithful lol

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 15:55 (thirteen years ago)

i've not heard anything by her outside of her work with metallica, markers where u at

乒乓, Monday, 8 April 2013 15:56 (thirteen years ago)

my heart is like a stallion fyi

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 15:59 (thirteen years ago)

this hews a lil close to green day for me, terrance malick will prob like it

johnny crunch, Monday, 8 April 2013 16:02 (thirteen years ago)

the title track is prob the most fascinating thing they've ever written

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:07 (thirteen years ago)

like they wrote a track called "save rock and roll" and not only got elton john to sing on it but also had him sing one of their old lines

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:08 (thirteen years ago)

so much fist pumping and woo in this I'm loving it

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:17 (thirteen years ago)

"phoenix" is so massive

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:33 (thirteen years ago)

otm

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:40 (thirteen years ago)

never listened to "phoenix" and "my songs" in sequence but man everything is pitched at 100 percent for the first six minutes of this record

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:41 (thirteen years ago)

i love that run of the final 3 tracks at the end -- especially RatTatTat fkn courtney fuck yeah

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:41 (thirteen years ago)

i love when elton john pronounces "love" as "LUFF"

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:42 (thirteen years ago)

though I kinda wish this was 70's elton, his oldman elton low voice is a bit jarring at first

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:44 (thirteen years ago)

i never think of pete wentz as a bass player but that's a great bass line in "where did the party go" (a realization i come to whenever i listen to "w.a.m.s" also)

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:47 (thirteen years ago)

"where did the party go" and esp "miss missing you" are full prom dance

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:48 (thirteen years ago)

lol yes

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:49 (thirteen years ago)

it is with out a doubt the first record in a new chapter of fall out boy. we made this music for ourselves and no one else at the end of the day. this is meant be played loud, with the windows down on summer nights. four friends with our backs to each other fighting in the darkness against anything and everything that is out there. we bowed our heads, took a knee and plugged back in.

haha god dammit i love this band so much

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:52 (thirteen years ago)

got nothing but extremely entertained lols for "the mighty fall"

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:53 (thirteen years ago)

good simple plan bite, big sean

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:53 (thirteen years ago)

"oh how the mighty fall / in love" is such a classic wentz lyric

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:53 (thirteen years ago)

the 'took a knee and plugged in' line made me irl lol so hard

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:53 (thirteen years ago)

"young volcanoes" is so good, i hear so many singles on this record

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:54 (thirteen years ago)

my girlfriend likened "young volcanoes" to train which has momentarily ruined the song for me

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:55 (thirteen years ago)

like they wrote a track called "save rock and roll" and not only got elton john to sing on it but also had him sing one of their old lines

i guess i don't know whether to roll my eyes or to fist pump and cheer at somebody writing a song about the state of rock n roll in... 2013

nb without having heard the actual song, obv

乒乓, Monday, 8 April 2013 16:55 (thirteen years ago)

lol i was re-reading the infinity on high thread this weekend and i compared "what a catch" to train u_u

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:56 (thirteen years ago)

"young volcanoes" sounds like the most blatant fun. rip on the record tho

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:56 (thirteen years ago)

dudes you should've seen the way my eyes glimmered at the start of "miss missing you"

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:56 (thirteen years ago)

yeah the first time i heard that i was like "ah man brad's gonna die when he hears this"

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 16:57 (thirteen years ago)

love young volcanoes so much

I'll take a FOB fun. ripoff every single time over hearing fun. soulessly whoaohhhh ever again

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 16:58 (thirteen years ago)

I WANNA SEE YOUR ANIMAAAAALLLL SIDE
LET IT ALL OUUUUUUUT

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 17:00 (thirteen years ago)

Not sure if this is outside the scope of the conversation, but has anybody written anything about how FOB became such a critically respected, "important" band? I don't really understand that POV, but I'm interesting in learning how the consensus changed so drastically

Evan R, Monday, 8 April 2013 17:03 (thirteen years ago)

don't worry, they really haven't

J0rdan S., Monday, 8 April 2013 17:03 (thirteen years ago)

the answer is Dom xp

乒乓, Monday, 8 April 2013 17:04 (thirteen years ago)

critics have always mostly liked them ime

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 17:05 (thirteen years ago)

meanwhile, it's courtney bitch

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 17:07 (thirteen years ago)

omg the sample of "chicago is so two years ago" on the title track.

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 8 April 2013 17:13 (thirteen years ago)

oh shi I didn't even notice

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 8 April 2013 17:14 (thirteen years ago)

Wow @ this record. Up to Just One Yesterday...

MikoMcha, Monday, 8 April 2013 17:15 (thirteen years ago)

i think the biggest roadblock for me w/ this record is how much i loved Stump's solo album and his lyric writing that going back to hearing him as the mouthpiece for rmde Wentz witticisms feels like a downgrade
