live band is severely funky in the best way possible and the voice doesn't exhibit the restraint it does on record and she was utterly charming the entire time.

toronto adored her, more or less. did not anticipate a sold out show or the crowd singing all her backing vocals for her or...well, any of it.

Does anyone think she's gonna "make it big" in the US and if so with which track?

Over the weekend, my 65-year old dad (Brit but living in America for 30 years) asked me if I knew Jessie Ware, so she's making inroads here somehow--NPR maybe? He also asked me if I knew who Richard Thompson was, so he's not like the 65-year old equivalent of an ilxor or anything. "Wildest Moments" would have been my pick for "which track," since I noticed it in playing in two different (American) TV shows last fall, but now I'm not sure.

Her SF show (500 capacity) sold out in the first hour.

Her Philly show in Jan which was probably around 500-1000 didn't sell out at all, but someone at the show told me all the other dates on the tour did.

She really is so amazing live and so uniquely personable and chatty and fucking ENDEARING. Also OMG that voice.

yeah i saw her last night...she is hilarious, kept teasing the crowd for screaming all night. "you'll lose your voice if you scream all show! i know from experience, i can't sing along to chaka khan at the club anymore"

My physical copy of the CD retitles "110%" "If You're Never Gonna Move."

There was legal issues with the sample iirc

i found it weird that they had to change not only the sample, but the title as well. like, couldn't they have said that it is called "110%" for no particular reason? idk.

I was the honorary DJ at a smallish party and when I played Imagine it was us some people were furious and mocked me, it followed Reach Out by George Duke and I was kinda short in options. I left the role and then they played Venetian Snares and it was a huge plane crash and I left.
