I hate myself for not having ordered my ballot and put Paavoharju at the top spot where it belongs.

This is sounding really nice but is it supposed to sound this muddy or is it a poor Spotify stream? Production aside I think you'd like it btw Lex, the second track is sort of... Finnish Kate Bush gone electronic.

(Haha okay maybe not, this probably qualifies under 'pastoral overload'. I like it though)

I don't know if this helps, but it really reminds me of the Legendary Pink Dots' stranger moments. For me that is an automatic A++, but if that's also unfamiliar I could compare it to a strange, dreamy radio broadcast that keeps changing and doing unpredictable things. Doesn't rock at all, no beats to speak of, but it gets under your skin in this half-awake twilight fashion. Especially after a few listens.

Fonal, their label, has put out some of my favorite stuff this decade.

Also re: Paavoharju, I think "hippie parents" is about right. The voices sound like they came out of Eastern
Europe in the 60's. I agree with sleeve, the Fonal label is great. My favorite recording on the label is by
Es ("Kaikkeuden Kauneus"). It's a great late-night album of strange meditative forest-folk.

I'm quite happy for the album's poll to move more slowly, it gives us time to check things out.

Looks like the ILM rockist coalition forgot to vote this year.

I totally missed the Gas albums when they first came out, so it was nice to get them all for cheap in that reissue. They're kinda like the first Pole records when they came out, something that follows logically from previous electronic music yet is also totally novel and inimitable. Like a complement aesthetic statement that needs no followup.

Still think voting for reissues is cheating.
