Didn't there used to be a metal album category? I remember the scandal when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica's And Justice For All...Did they just chuck that and make it alternative when alternative was big?

I think they got rid of metal after Soundgarden won and threw a bitchfit screaming that they weren't metal. Losers.

God, I remember being really excited when U2 won best alternative album for Zooropa and Bono said that it was ludicrous but they'll continue to "fuck with the mainstream." I was like a lil' Jim DeRogatis at 14 I tells ya.
But this year's selections are fairly awesome! At least way more interesting than a Steely Dan renuion.
