come to think of it 'dick in a box' is probably thicke's career high
― r|t|c, Sunday, 10 March 2013 14:51 (thirteen years ago)
That's very nice and all (putting aside the irony of the snl thing) but he wouldn't exactly be able to sing it better.
― tsrobodo, Sunday, 10 March 2013 14:53 (thirteen years ago)
it doesnt exist in a vacuum of technique tho
― r|t|c, Sunday, 10 March 2013 14:55 (thirteen years ago)
True, and I've taken that into account.
― tsrobodo, Sunday, 10 March 2013 14:58 (thirteen years ago)
i'm okay with "suit & tie" being a very good robin thicke song... i have enough room in my life for that. i definitely don't think that thicke -- as much as i like his stuff -- is on timberlake's level as an overall artist tho
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 10 March 2013 16:25 (thirteen years ago)
"i have enough room in my life for that"
― r|t|c, Sunday, 10 March 2013 16:56 (thirteen years ago)
i do! in fact maybe it would be cool if justin timberlake made a "robin thicke album that america actually cares about"
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 10 March 2013 16:58 (thirteen years ago)
i can't work out what JT did that inspired j0rdan's bump of this thread
i like thicke BUT timberlake is def the way superior artist BUT not, so far, in this campaign
― r&b morcilla (lex pretend), Sunday, 10 March 2013 17:46 (thirteen years ago)
wel he performed on SNL last night
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 10 March 2013 17:49 (thirteen years ago)
oh right

yeah, this is p much my opinion
― radric: the guccining (The Reverend), Sunday, 10 March 2013 18:49 (thirteen years ago)
on another note, I just realized the other day how much I love "All Tied Up"
― radric: the guccining (The Reverend), Sunday, 10 March 2013 18:50 (thirteen years ago)
Love After War (ping pong take note) is def his weakest album other than maybe the first tho, which I've never heard. Something Else is his best altho The Evolution of Robin Thicke is maybe his most definitive
― radric: the guccining (The Reverend), Sunday, 10 March 2013 18:53 (thirteen years ago)
The idea of Timberlake being a distinct step up from Thicke doesn't really wash with me. Timberlake is the better entertainer and is infectiously charming but Thicke is the superior vocalist and has a better grasp on the sensuous.
― tsrobodo, Sunday, 10 March 2013 18:55 (thirteen years ago)
I wish I could unhear Mirrors.
― I sleep with my enemies. They're the ones with passion for me. (Turangalila), Sunday, 10 March 2013 18:58 (thirteen years ago)
thicke has some jams and his albums are all very solid and he's definitely underrated in a general sense, but dude's not holding a candle to FS/LS or the singles off 'justified'
this is kind of an insane conversation to even have imo
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 10 March 2013 18:58 (thirteen years ago)
isn't the point that timberlake doing second rate thicke is exactly what's disappointing, given that he's the superior artist?
― r&b morcilla (lex pretend), Sunday, 10 March 2013 19:00 (thirteen years ago)
yeah i think that's a totally valid argument
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 10 March 2013 19:01 (thirteen years ago)
you made it a hot line, I made it a hot song
― 乒乓, Sunday, 10 March 2013 19:02 (thirteen years ago)
Its little more than a matter of preference.
― tsrobodo, Sunday, 10 March 2013 19:02 (thirteen years ago)
well discussing matters of preference is boring
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 10 March 2013 19:03 (thirteen years ago)
Well its either that or I'm insane.
― tsrobodo, Sunday, 10 March 2013 19:04 (thirteen years ago)
So I was just looking at the track listing with track lengths today. I knew the album the album had only 10 tracks, but I didn't realize how long they were gonna be:http://www.sonymusic.de/Justin-Timberlake/The-20-20-Experience/P/2827790/D/1

Justin Timberlake - Let The Groove Get In 07:12
let's hope so
― the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 10 March 2013 19:41 (thirteen years ago)
Can you give us a preview of the new album?
There are 10 songs on this one, but the average length of each song is seven, eight minutes. We made it to listen from top to bottom. It's not so much a narrative or a story, but sonically we really made it to listen from top to bottom.
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 10 March 2013 19:43 (thirteen years ago)
haha how is that even a surprise at this point xxp

― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 March 2013 21:31 (thirteen years ago)
hey cool "pusher love girl" is nice
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 March 2013 21:32 (thirteen years ago)
Strawberry Bubblegum is really lush.
― Greer, Monday, 11 March 2013 21:41 (thirteen years ago)
"strawberry bubblegum" surprisingly kinda lives up to its title
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 11 March 2013 21:47 (thirteen years ago)
"don't hold the wall" is ugly as hell though
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 11 March 2013 21:48 (thirteen years ago)
return of the "is that your chick" beat on "tunnel vision"
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 11 March 2013 21:56 (thirteen years ago)
this album sounds damn good to me
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 March 2013 22:02 (thirteen years ago)
Let The Groove Get In is kind of a welcome shot into the arm after the stretch from Tunnel Vision to That Girl had me ready to take a small nap.
― Greer, Monday, 11 March 2013 22:02 (thirteen years ago)
lol @ the guitar solo in "spaceship coupe"
lol
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 11 March 2013 22:04 (thirteen years ago)
initial reaction about halfway through is that it's lots better than i was expecting but not very "whoa"
― flamenco drop (lex pretend), Monday, 11 March 2013 22:05 (thirteen years ago)
make love on the moon bruh
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 March 2013 22:05 (thirteen years ago)
but
i gotta agree
― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 11 March 2013 22:05 (thirteen years ago)
it's definitely more of a ~vibe~ than anything else and while it's a pretty good vibe, something about that makes me sigh
― flamenco drop (lex pretend), Monday, 11 March 2013 22:06 (thirteen years ago)
i've been wondering if FS/LS has gotten a bit too revered as everyone has waited for a new album. i mean that album is hot but it's not, you know, thriller or some shit. which is basically what this album would have to be for anyone to consider it better than FS/LS.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 March 2013 22:06 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, gasfaced at that guitar solo.
― Greer, Monday, 11 March 2013 22:06 (thirteen years ago)
this album def has a heavy "wow i'm so in love, i'm married" vibe too it which i can dig
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 March 2013 22:07 (thirteen years ago)
i've been wondering if FS/LS has gotten a bit too revered as everyone has waited for a new album.
it was overly revered as soon as it came out
― flamenco drop (lex pretend), Monday, 11 March 2013 22:07 (thirteen years ago)
this guitar solo def has some andre 3000 swag to it -_-
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 March 2013 22:08 (thirteen years ago)
i'm getting this too, in light of this it seems really weird that the entire pre-release angle has been "JT rekindles his love affair with music" when framing it as a love album about a person is a more attractive proposition
― flamenco drop (lex pretend), Monday, 11 March 2013 22:09 (thirteen years ago)
the "spaceship coupe" outro is really dope
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 March 2013 22:10 (thirteen years ago)
oh man, "that girl"
― J0rdan S., Monday, 11 March 2013 22:12 (thirteen years ago)
really enjoyed the endlessness of "strawberry bubblegum"/"tunnel vision"
― flamenco drop (lex pretend), Monday, 11 March 2013 22:12 (thirteen years ago)
