They've only been working with him for 12 years, his involvement is plainly going to transform their process

The hyperbole in that listicle reads like ESL

Shit, I'm really buying into all the hype and now my expectations are really high. This can only lead to heartbreak.

Kitchen Person, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 22:17 (eleven years ago) link

perhaps 808s as well?

Moodles, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 22:26 (eleven years ago) link

Have a friend who works in a mastering plant who told me a couple of tracks were made with noted game changer Shigeru Miyamoto.

The .gif from Interstella has me thinking: won't it be amazing if this is a really big record and they win a main award at the Grammy's and they just blink "Thank You!" and ":)" ?!!!

^^ this, very much so

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 23:59 (eleven years ago) link

might as well feel hopeful rather than jaded, at least we'll have a few weeks/months of excitement to savour

zero dark (s1ocki), Thursday, 7 March 2013 00:01 (eleven years ago) link

True, but it's viral/omg/15secs/commercials stuff excitement. It's not the same as true anticipation.

Maybe my robot heart battery is just dying, I can't keep up with this viral/commercial stuff any more. Loathe the buzz.

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 7 March 2013 00:03 (eleven years ago) link

OTM

Le Bateau Ivre, Thursday, 7 March 2013 00:05 (eleven years ago) link

i'm not gonna make the argument for hope

zero dark (s1ocki), Thursday, 7 March 2013 00:30 (eleven years ago) link

star wars

zero dark (s1ocki), Thursday, 7 March 2013 01:28 (eleven years ago) link

This kind of hype would be fine if they suddenly announced it was coming out on Monday (MBV style) but I'm sure it'll be a few weeks until we get an album title, then another week until we get a release date. Basically we're probably not going to hear this until July and I'm just feeling too impatient already.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 7 March 2013 01:45 (eleven years ago) link

our work is never over

乒乓, Thursday, 7 March 2013 01:46 (eleven years ago) link

If they were working with Fagan/Becker I would be excited. (xposts)

Among the many whispers about involvement of Daft Punk’s new album, one name stands alone —Michael Jackon. No, Michael had not contributed pre-mortem, but the team of musicians behind his legendary Thriller have allegedly gone back to work the duo’s fated album.

Toto?

Cunga, Thursday, 7 March 2013 03:37 (eleven years ago) link

they probably recorded michael jackson with seven different microphones

geeta, Thursday, 7 March 2013 03:42 (eleven years ago) link

'thomas can tell the difference'

geeta, Thursday, 7 March 2013 03:42 (eleven years ago) link

Toto?

I was thinking maybe Rod Temperton.

MarkoP, Thursday, 7 March 2013 03:53 (eleven years ago) link

No, Michael had not contributed pre-mortem

no?

ILX pre-covers !

AlXTC from Paris, Thursday, 7 March 2013 14:08 (eleven years ago) link

That would be a great idea.

Ulna (Nicole), Thursday, 7 March 2013 14:14 (eleven years ago) link

I'll buy a helmet once we get the tracklisting !

AlXTC from Paris, Thursday, 7 March 2013 14:15 (eleven years ago) link

yeah this needs to happen

licorice oratorio (baaderonixx), Thursday, 7 March 2013 15:35 (eleven years ago) link

so gonna happen

AlXTC from Paris, Thursday, 7 March 2013 15:52 (eleven years ago) link

i'll bet 10 bitcoins that this album is called Daft Punk

none other than the shadeball Tuommy Loftus (diamonddave85), Thursday, 7 March 2013 15:57 (eleven years ago) link

to change from the previous ILX pre-covers iterations, the concept could be that the tracks have to "sound exactly like what you dreamt of" !

AlXTC from Paris, Thursday, 7 March 2013 16:00 (eleven years ago) link

i'll bet 20 bitcoins that the ILX covers album is better than the real deal

frogbs, Thursday, 7 March 2013 16:02 (eleven years ago) link

dibs on whichever track has the moroder spoken word thing; dibs on using Ned in a spoken word thing

i thought of this thread

So. ILX Pre-Covers?

MarkoP, Saturday, 23 March 2013 18:53 (eleven years ago) link

Hahah a thought. I'd rather have some actual song titles first but nobody's stopping anyone from prepping ideas...

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 23 March 2013 18:56 (eleven years ago) link

awesome awesome title

schlump, Saturday, 23 March 2013 19:04 (eleven years ago) link

Really?

Seems hacky to me.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 23 March 2013 19:06 (eleven years ago) link

Thats a... criticism, i guess.

Woody Ellen (Matt P), Saturday, 23 March 2013 19:30 (eleven years ago) link

yeah it's a completely hacky title compared to the greatness of 'human after all'

乒乓, Saturday, 23 March 2013 19:33 (eleven years ago) link

Random Access Memories and Human After All are both great titles.

Heyman (crüt), Saturday, 23 March 2013 19:36 (eleven years ago) link

i was being sarcastic ;_;
