yes, and one more time etc but i had forgotten how many OTHER tracks there were

zero dark (s1ocki), Tuesday, 5 March 2013 15:16 (thirteen years ago)

I always skup One More Time. Never enjoyed it a great deal TBH.

dog latin, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 15:26 (thirteen years ago)

more like one less time

zero dark (s1ocki), Tuesday, 5 March 2013 15:26 (thirteen years ago)

tbh Alive 2007 ruined pretty much all DP for me since I only want to hear the version of "One More Time" that goes into "Aerodynamic", or the "Superheroes" that runs with "Human After All". I think "Digital Love" and maybe "Da Funk" were the only tracks spared from this (the former because it wasn't on Alive nor would it have fit, the latter doesn't really mix well with others). In that respect HAA felt like an "expansion pack" release, none of those tracks were really good on their own but damn do they mix well with everything else.

frogbs, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 15:30 (thirteen years ago)

Shit, I've had Alive 2007 hanging around since... must be 2007, and I still haven't given it a proper spin. Will change that tonight.

dog latin, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 15:36 (thirteen years ago)

it still feels odd to me since I had downloaded their infamous Coachella set and that summer I had coworkers who loved DP so we listened to that all the freakin time - when Alive came out it was basically the same but with some minor differences so it always felt a little weird to me

frogbs, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 15:41 (thirteen years ago)

Alive 2007 is pretty much the only Daft Punk album I listen to as an album.

Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 15:42 (thirteen years ago)

Listened to Alive 2007 at 6am on Friday night/saturday morning at full blast whilst high on life/beers/cocaine and can confirm that it is still GLORIOUS.

Nathan East is the slept-on collaborator here. Dude's played bass for Barry White, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Lionel Richie, Aretha, Whitney and scores of other greats. Hoping they'll be using him a lot.

Fetchboy, Tuesday, 5 March 2013 23:23 (thirteen years ago)

I also read somewhere that they were possibly working with some of the studio musicians that worked on Thriller, though I'm not sure who.

They've only been working with him for 12 years, his involvement is plainly going to transform their process

Shit, I'm really buying into all the hype and now my expectations are really high. This can only lead to heartbreak.

Kitchen Person, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 22:17 (thirteen years ago)

perhaps 808s as well?

Moodles, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 22:26 (thirteen years ago)

Have a friend who works in a mastering plant who told me a couple of tracks were made with noted game changer Shigeru Miyamoto.

Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 22:58 (thirteen years ago)

The .gif from Interstella has me thinking: won't it be amazing if this is a really big record and they win a main award at the Grammy's and they just blink "Thank You!" and ":)" ?!!!

^^ this, very much so

Le Bateau Ivre, Wednesday, 6 March 2013 23:59 (thirteen years ago)

might as well feel hopeful rather than jaded, at least we'll have a few weeks/months of excitement to savour

zero dark (s1ocki), Thursday, 7 March 2013 00:01 (thirteen years ago)

True, but it's viral/omg/15secs/commercials stuff excitement. It's not the same as true anticipation.

Maybe my robot heart battery is just dying, I can't keep up with this viral/commercial stuff any more. Loathe the buzz.

star wars

zero dark (s1ocki), Thursday, 7 March 2013 01:28 (thirteen years ago)

This kind of hype would be fine if they suddenly announced it was coming out on Monday (MBV style) but I'm sure it'll be a few weeks until we get an album title, then another week until we get a release date. Basically we're probably not going to hear this until July and I'm just feeling too impatient already.

Kitchen Person, Thursday, 7 March 2013 01:45 (thirteen years ago)

our work is never over

乒乓, Thursday, 7 March 2013 01:46 (thirteen years ago)

If they were working with Fagan/Becker I would be excited. (xposts)

Among the many whispers about involvement of Daft Punk’s new album, one name stands alone —Michael Jackon. No, Michael had not contributed pre-mortem, but the team of musicians behind his legendary Thriller have allegedly gone back to work the duo’s fated album.

Toto?

Cunga, Thursday, 7 March 2013 03:37 (thirteen years ago)
