Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Cheers Barms, do you still need it or has Stevem stole my thunder? List what you've got on here, I might have some other Annie stuff lying around.

Affectian (Affectian), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve sent me 'I Will Get On' before vanishing, so the race is on! I have most of the album, except the title track (and the edit of 'Greatest Hit' though I have the full length instead). That covers everything.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 16:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I also have Mylo's mix.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 16:52 (twenty-one years ago)

My 'Chewing Gum' is definitely not the Mylo mix. At least not the fast Mylo mix that I've heard. It sounds the same, or very similar, to the version that I saw the video for on TV. It's 3:56 in length, which is 8 seconds longer than the mp3 I found from before, but I've realised that's just cause the mp3 is missing the first 8 seconds.

My 12" (which I can't listen to at the moment and has no track timings) has one side marked 'Album Mix'. I seem to remember the CD singles having another main mix (the single mix?) marked separately to the album mix, which appeared on one of them. Anyway. Maybe some copies of the album got out with the Mylo mix on in error?

btw. 'My Heartbeat' is still my favourite track of all. I'm don't seem to be able to overdose on it.

But the title track is wonderfully infectious perfect pop, and 'Always Too Late' is a bit of a monster. I'm just getting into the other Torbjørn Brundtland collaboration, 'My Best Friend' too. I just love her voice.

Optimo gets a thanks on the dedications, which is cool.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I wasn't reading properly. I thought you were backing up what Michael Gill was saying upthread about the Mylo mix being on the album.

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Steve just sent 'I Will Always Remember You'. Alab, you and Steve get ready for a reply.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

the Mylo mix is kinda meh to my ears.

Senor Embargo (blueski), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

if anyone wants 'Kiss Me' then say so

Senor Embargo (blueski), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Agreed on Mylo mix, I'm guessing that new gmail I have is 'Kiss Me'.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:15 (twenty-one years ago)

No, it's the Kaptein Kaliber mix of 'I Will Always...'. I think one day I will have to switch over to my alternate gmail account to handle all this (or get my own broadband/laptop/life).

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

that Cornelius track keeps bouncing back, received it three times now, steady on old chap

Senor Embargo (blueski), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Lots of Timo Kaukolampi then. Can anyone recommend some Op:l Bastards?

JoB (JoB), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:52 (twenty-one years ago)

GMail is going weird then, I didn't refresh the page at any point. I got the Kaptein Kaliber mix twice (but not the original of 'I Will Always yet), and I keep getting my own attachments returned to me in the conversations.

JoB, go to www.discogs.com. I recommend the 10", 'Spraybeat' on Rex Records, which has mysteriously/depressingly disappeared from my stash.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 17:56 (twenty-one years ago)

My head hurts. Somehow, everything I've gotten off Steve has been changed to the Kaptein Kaliber thing, including the actual gmail attachments. WTF?

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Can someone gmail me the non-album Annie stuff? ferg.or at gmail dot com?

Michael Philip Philip Philip Philip Philip Annoyman (Ferg), Wednesday, 6 October 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

where did my come from?

you could gmail me at RJG123, too, couldn't you? yes.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 7 October 2004 03:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I lament the gmailrequestification of ILM, but I understand, yes.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 7 October 2004 06:26 (twenty-one years ago)

why do you lament?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Thursday, 7 October 2004 08:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Because it's not very interesting to read.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 7 October 2004 08:45 (twenty-one years ago)

But you make offers and get stuff in return too. And speaking of, Steve, you've fallen behind. Don't make me dump you for Ian ;-).

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Thursday, 7 October 2004 10:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I just prefer it if it stays on the mp3 request threads, but I guess that's unrealistic. Carry on.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 7 October 2004 10:15 (twenty-one years ago)

no, I agree, actually.

don't send me anything, please.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 7 October 2004 10:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Ferg, get them off me on Ssk you cheeky tart. You're in my list so it shouldn't be a problem.

Affectian (Affectian), Thursday, 7 October 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, I'll need everything but the Kaptein Kaliber mix, 'I WIll Get On', 'Just Friends', the Mylo mix, 'Chewing Gum', the extended 'Greatest Hit' and 'Heartbeat'. I also need 'Anniemal' (the track).

Nobody say nothing, I'm feeling the shame.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Thursday, 7 October 2004 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Annie, I'm so sorry.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Thursday, 7 October 2004 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

well i jumped onboard. grabbed the proper release for a mind numbingly normal £11.99 which was placed over the outrageous £13.99 sticker.
value for money. yup.
fuckin' love this stuff ..
wonder if the full release then will feature lots of bonus extras (dvd/remixes etc) a la Poly Spree album on 679 .. thus making us grab another copy ?

mark e (mark e), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 14:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, very good album. It'll go in the VV poll if I get the invite this year (I hope?).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

glad you like it ned, though i thought that if anyone would...

stelfox, Wednesday, 13 October 2004 14:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Pitchfork "We Are The World"ed 'Heartbeat' today.

Matthew Perpetua (Matthew Perpetua), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm glad it's so glowing, but I think it misses the bittersweetness inherent in the song.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:46 (twenty-one years ago)

any word yet on a u.s. release?

reo, Wednesday, 13 October 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't believe I still don't have this yeat. Far too broke to even contemplate it (and many others - it seems the threads on all of these albums I desperately want (this, Tom Waits, Dizzee, Stina Nordenstam, Interpol) but can't afford keep getting bumped back up to spite me) GRAR.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

is the pitchfork site ever going to have a decent navigation menu together/NOT ugly squished graphic type for links?

Freelance Webdesigner (blueski), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

annie underwhelms me a little, i like it in theory but it has yet to really win my heart.

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 17:40 (twenty-one years ago)

me too, I've not given it a decent chance admittedly. also I've been listening to quite dark stuff lately.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I love the singles obviously.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

cristina.

cºzen (Cozen), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Is it even going to be released in the US? Ive seen bigger groups/more anticipated records never get released over here..

still bevens (bscrubbins), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't understand cozen's cryptic cristina comment. Is he comparing the two in some way?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Does she really say "schlepping" on "Me Plus One"?!?!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 19:51 (twenty-one years ago)

No. 6 in Norway. Geir probably bought 10 copies to feed his melody habit.

B.A.R.M.S. (Barima), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

What's No.6? 'Chewing Gum'?

Alba (Alba), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 20:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Anniemal. Norwegian album chart!

JoB (JoB), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 21:38 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah ronan i like the singles too (but not quite love, i think... but maybe if it hits me at the right time, on the dancefloor or something, that will change)

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night I dreamt Annie was a fundamentalist Christian.

Alba (Alba), Thursday, 14 October 2004 07:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, anybody fancy gmailing me the singles? (Sorry N.!)

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Thursday, 14 October 2004 07:13 (twenty-one years ago)
