The CD sounds better than the 320 kbps MP3s. Hearing some things I didn't catch the first 50 times. Doesn't sound as muddied, in general.

The 320kbps MP3s they offered for download are actually 128kbps MP3s transcoded, so I'm not surprised.

There was a lot of talk on What about the transcodes, as there are loads of anal retentives on there.

Received the vinyl/cd combo today. Twelve days from Southall, Middlesex to the center of the NorthAm land mass. Not bad. Better time, in fact, than Media Mail drop ship from, say, Illinois. No dents. No dings. Don't understand the complaints about the cover art, which I find stark and stunning.

My vinyl/CD package arrived earlier this week. I finally opened it today It was rattling around in the box with no padding - not even a plastic shrink-wrap to protect the cover. During transit the LP has cut through the inner-sleeve and through the actual album cover itself at the bottom end: so a couple of millimeters of the disc actually hang out of the cover if I hold it upright. Will have to send this back.

Got my vinyl/CD yesterday, haven't listened to it yet. No padding, but physically it seemed to be OK.

some friends of mine in the US got theirs and had split spines etc on the vinyl, pretty shitty for $40

crap

got mine today (texas) and it's actually nearly flawless, which is pretty incredible... they just dropped it in a record mailer, no padding at all and free to bounce around. but even the corners are uncrushed! this I guess represents the other end of the spectrum of mail handling from the mailman who used to fold my 7" records in half to get them to fit in my mailbox.

for fucks sake. oregon, texas. denver is right in between the two, if not even more accessible. i imagine they all sent these out feb. 22, right, regardless of when you actually ordered? i didn't get my credit card information processed til about 2 hrs after the initial release.

I'm still enjoying this more with earplug headphones and the first mp3s. I listened to my vinyl for the first time today and couldn't get it loud enough. The CD was louder and awesome - so we'll see. It's still wonderful, strange and disorientating.

Oh and I'm seeing them in London next week, so I'm on listening to the album lots as "research".

Ironic cos the cds I have of loveless and isn't anything do nothing for me. But the vinyl versions are amazing, especially through headphones.

i know you guys would much rather they had never even bothered with this new record if they were going to be so cavalier in its mailing paraphernalia BUT can i just say, this sounds real fine, & also way more like a my bloody valentine record, on record. nice & way swampier than the digi-files.
