Yeah, there's got to be some sort of Weird Al law. Like, the closer pop music comes to an actual Weird Al parody, the closer we are too armageddon. Like the Doomsday Clock.

what I mean is, pretty much every parody that could exist of this song is on Youtube already, so he's going to have to mine that space even further. maybe even turn it into a song about getting lots of Youtube views. or, maybe about eating food.

If I were Kim Jong Un, I would put my best men and women to work coming up with a song, dance and video that beats "Gangnam Style" on the charts, to show up South Korea (and everyone). I can totally imagine it. "We will launch a new single that will absolutely destroy the world. The Top 40 will be ours!"

And the can challenge Psy to a dance off. Or I guess crotch thrust off? Because that's pretty much Psy's dance.

No, the crotch thrust is (S. Korean comedian) Haha's signature move. The hip wiggle is (S. Korean idol group) Brown Eyed Girls' signature move from their 2009 hit "Abracadabra". The horse dance is Psy's signature move, and I gotta tell you, I've been in Zumba classes where both parts - the lassoing part and the trotting part - were a part of the routine, although not together at the same time.

Psy's "Happening" concert is on Youtube btw, and is pretty awesome. I support the hip wiggle and Ga In's extended cameo in the "Gentleman" video, also dude's attempts to break the sexless/harmless Asian dude stereotype, but it's never cool to push girls to the floor. That's unfunny jerk behavior.

No video could top "Gangnam Style", but I like "Gentlemen" the song more. Probably because it's PSY gone New Beat + Big Beat, both particularly hitting my buttons.

A Psy/Uffie collaboration would blow my mind.

Even if it's aimed at home, Psy's spent the last year touring abroad under something like that misconception, I think.

But also I think if it were really aimed at the South Korean market, he wouldn't have recycled a dance craze everyone already knows from just a couple years ago.

It's already got 70 million youtube views and is currently top 20 on US iTunes. New Billboard rules regarding youtube views could let this be a hit with almost zero initial radio attention much like Harlem Shake was.
