Yeah, i bought "Loveless" when i was 16 at Best Buy in 1997, and it was incredible. So I've been waiting so long for this. I don't care if it's not as hooky as "Loveless", it's filled with great variations on that sound, and I kind of like the shapeless quality it currently has for me. Listening over and over will bring out so many parts that I didn't notice on the 1st 2nd 3rd listens.

MBV, i mean

What's striking is that irrespective of how much effort, hand-wringing, self-sabotage, and mysterious meticulousness went into this - it sounds like a band just doing their thing and kicking ass at it. If it didn't say "MBV" on it and was just some anonymous Bandcamp album featured on the When The Sun Hits blog, I'd still feel like "wow, these folks are onto something here."

More folks should listen to Isn't Anything anyway.

I was hesitant to listen to this, because what could possibly measure up to Loveless? And we've waited 20 years for this, but, you know, it's pretty damn good.

i always thought the mbv arkestra was one of the best things he ever did. i haven't listened to it for years but the horn loop at the end is so incredible.

It's lovely that it sounds so much like them. That sounds daft but I mean, well, on first listening all those gorgeous guitar tones are there. I stood up and clapped when that ELEPHANT noise they do came in half way through the record.

This is odd. I hope after all the excitement we don't come back in 18 months and say LOOL this was a 6/10 at best.

it will be better than 99% of all albums released this year.

Well, I wouldn't go as far as afb did but I'm pretty lukewarm, except for a couple of tracks. The tunes don't grab me as much, for the most part, and they don't seem to have added all that much to their sonic palette.
