ah, site's back up and running now. bought me a good old-fashioned vinyl copy.

I think this is the longest I've ever waited on something and still maintained reasonable expectations on what it might be like. Even the span of time between when I was born and when I lost my virginity was shorter.
Not disappointed with it in any way, shape or form.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:59 (thirteen years ago)
i'm like a *moderate* mbv fan but my god does this sound good
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:00 (thirteen years ago)
this sounds great to me but i smoked some 3 Kings in the bathroom so that might have something to do with it. will be buying the vinyl though.
― scott seward, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:01 (thirteen years ago)
my record player doesn't even work right and I bought the vinyl. I expect one of you guys will fix it at whichever FAP I bring it to.
― 乒乓, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:02 (thirteen years ago)
i can't believe i effing ran out earlier today
― Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:02 (thirteen years ago)
also went for the 24/96 download, since my squeezebox can actually play that without downsampling. finally it begins to pay for itself with six senses of sound.
― the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:05 (thirteen years ago)
in another way ruuuuuules
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:05 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah, "In Another Way" was my initial favorite.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:06 (thirteen years ago)
this is so rich and gorgeous
― Clay, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:06 (thirteen years ago)
Great album.
― jim, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:07 (thirteen years ago)
So many have tried to get this sound, but they're the only ones who can do it right. Incredible.
― kornrulez6969, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:07 (thirteen years ago)
This is a dense feast of candy.
― Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:08 (thirteen years ago)
I'm on track 7 by now & have been trying to curtail initial impressions b/c lol 'shock of the new,' but fuck it, this sounds AMAZING
― rocky dennis horror show (Pillbox), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:08 (thirteen years ago)

wonder 2 is just like.....damn
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:12 (thirteen years ago)
Wow, the second track is sounding really good on that Youtube.
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:12 (thirteen years ago)
i like the fact bilinda got more lead vocals than kev. she sings leads in 5/9 songs if i'm not mistaken.
― cock chirea, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:13 (thirteen years ago)
this is really good at making me become really enthusiastic about listening to other things so as to have an excuse to pause the mbv album!!
― attempt to look intentionally nerdy, awkward or (thomp), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:13 (thirteen years ago)
So many have tried to get this sound, but they're the only ones who can do it right

― kornrulez6969, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:18 (thirteen years ago)
i just feel like we all ought to have outgrown our attachment to my bloody valentine at this point

this is legitimately retarded
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:21 (thirteen years ago)
like, say something intelligent or let ppl enjoy themselves
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:22 (thirteen years ago)
Lots of MBV soundalikes have written some pretty remarkable songs in the same palette, so I kinda side with thomp on this one.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:22 (thirteen years ago)
Well, I agreed with the original challop. Not so much the "outgrown" one.
― Johnny Fever, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:23 (thirteen years ago)
why should i put any more effort into pointing out this is a mediocre record than the people claiming to enjoy it?
― attempt to look intentionally nerdy, awkward or (thomp), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:23 (thirteen years ago)
so as not to be an asshole?
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:23 (thirteen years ago)
do MBV experts know how many of these songs date back to the 90s?
― piscesx, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:24 (thirteen years ago)
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are an English rock band formed in 2011 as the solo moniker of former Oasis lead guitarist/songwriter Noel Gallagher. nah, reflections on it's social propriety can wait until after the buzz wears off.
― rocky dennis horror show (Pillbox), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:24 (thirteen years ago)
neighbors hatin' me right now
― the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:25 (thirteen years ago)
its better than a lot of new shoogeezery atuff that's for sure. but maybe the new stuff is just really bad and this is simply a cut above. sounds really cool to me though. even the similar sounding sounds sound cool cuz fuckit that's how they sound. i love when tom petty sounds like tom petty too. they're good at it. mbv and tom petty.
― scott seward, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:29 (thirteen years ago)
what good fortune that I just happened to buy a nice new pair of 'at home' headphones a few days ago!

it is too complicated & too early to write about this (i know that sounds super goofy but it's true, & also lol at anyone pfft-ing at this record after forty five minutes with it) but i totally feel you, here, like it is intensely weird listening to stuff that sounds anagramatic of previous mbv songs & textures & all but then a little way into the first song when it coheres & is doing something new sorta & you're kinda back in their ~emotional zone~ & weirdly linked to all the places you've been with that, it's pretty special
― schlump, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:31 (thirteen years ago)
hey guys i just woke up, what did i miss?
― Roz, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:32 (thirteen years ago)
man the last third or so of "new you"
― Clay, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:33 (thirteen years ago)
Floored on first listen
― Raymond Cummings, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:35 (thirteen years ago)
cried a couple times during this. amazing.
― Chris S, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:36 (thirteen years ago)
This will sound very 20th century, but: will I be able to buy this in a store in the US?
― Raymond Cummings, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:37 (thirteen years ago)
just speaking generally btw, the second side of this is nuts, huh. there are weird moments on the first - that whole rewind ending!, & the sorta touched analogue w/keyboards & bilinda, but it's crazy hearing it go into such specific for want of a less loaded word experimental territory half way through
― schlump, Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:37 (thirteen years ago)
i think this record is a bit weaker melodically than loveless but i think the sound is superior. this is not a weedy album
― djembe v (electricsound), Sunday, 3 February 2013 04:38 (thirteen years ago)
Pretty different from Loveless. Less pure and beatific, more... I dunno... humor? Like a number of songs have this bouncy guitar effect.
