ah, site's back up and running now. bought me a good old-fashioned vinyl copy.

I think this is the longest I've ever waited on something and still maintained reasonable expectations on what it might be like. Even the span of time between when I was born and when I lost my virginity was shorter.

Not disappointed with it in any way, shape or form.

i'm like a *moderate* mbv fan but my god does this sound good

this sounds great to me but i smoked some 3 Kings in the bathroom so that might have something to do with it. will be buying the vinyl though.

my record player doesn't even work right and I bought the vinyl. I expect one of you guys will fix it at whichever FAP I bring it to.

also went for the 24/96 download, since my squeezebox can actually play that without downsampling. finally it begins to pay for itself with six senses of sound.

i like the fact bilinda got more lead vocals than kev. she sings leads in 5/9 songs if i'm not mistaken.

Lots of MBV soundalikes have written some pretty remarkable songs in the same palette, so I kinda side with thomp on this one.

Well, I agreed with the original challop. Not so much the "outgrown" one.

why should i put any more effort into pointing out this is a mediocre record than the people claiming to enjoy it?

its better than a lot of new shoogeezery atuff that's for sure. but maybe the new stuff is just really bad and this is simply a cut above. sounds really cool to me though. even the similar sounding sounds sound cool cuz fuckit that's how they sound. i love when tom petty sounds like tom petty too. they're good at it. mbv and tom petty.

it is too complicated & too early to write about this (i know that sounds super goofy but it's true, & also lol at anyone pfft-ing at this record after forty five minutes with it) but i totally feel you, here, like it is intensely weird listening to stuff that sounds anagramatic of previous mbv songs & textures & all but then a little way into the first song when it coheres & is doing something new sorta & you're kinda back in their ~emotional zone~ & weirdly linked to all the places you've been with that, it's pretty special

just speaking generally btw, the second side of this is nuts, huh. there are weird moments on the first - that whole rewind ending!, & the sorta touched analogue w/keyboards & bilinda, but it's crazy hearing it go into such specific for want of a less loaded word experimental territory half way through

i think this record is a bit weaker melodically than loveless but i think the sound is superior. this is not a weedy album

Pretty different from Loveless. Less pure and beatific, more... I dunno... humor? Like a number of songs have this bouncy guitar effect.
