It’s got a very hardcore nuum chord structure.

― O_o-O_O-o_O (jjjusten), Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:33 (thirteen years ago)
To try to get an idea before I pay for it: does this stuff sound similar to Loveless, similar to Isn't Anything-era, or like something new and distinct?
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:33 (thirteen years ago)
"distinct from both"
― EveningStar (Sund4r), Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:34 (thirteen years ago)
Eager to know as well.

cmon no one reads 77 anymore
― manti 乒乓 (k3vin k.), Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:35 (thirteen years ago)
much more like loveless than IA, with some new angles thrown in
― djembe v (electricsound), Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:35 (thirteen years ago)
Well, after a shivers-accompanied first listen, this sounds like the closest possible thing to a 'mature' MBV album. It doesn't knock you out of your seat with the way the guitars stampede in out of the little interludes on Loveless. But my immediate response to the songwriting is that it's just so, so beautiful - the dreaminess is unparalled! You could also say they sound more like a real band in a room, enhanced by very detailed-'sounding' (obv. we can't know yet) overdubs and layerings, and with those newly-forceful (compared to their past two) live drums from Colm..
― Davek (davek_00), Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:36 (thirteen years ago)
Additionally, nobody has any promo codes I figure?
― Evan, Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:36 (thirteen years ago)
"new you" and "in another way" are super fun

― 乒乓, Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:38 (thirteen years ago)

― :C (crüt), Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:39 (thirteen years ago)

― emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:40 (thirteen years ago)

The drumming is damn powerful throughout so far.

I was expecting to buy the multitrack.
― Chewshabadoo, Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:44 (thirteen years ago)
i wish mbv had more distinct song titles
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:45 (thirteen years ago)
btw if you have a mac and are downloading the 24/96, I recommend using this player: http://sbooth.org/Decibel/
(obv only if you have an external DAC capable of handling the juice etc. etc.)

Oh god I love how warm this sounds.
― Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:49 (thirteen years ago)
first track incredible
"weird hearing these songs with an actual colm"
do we know he actually played on this one?
"idk why I figured Colm would still be a smacked-out sloppy drummer"
he's like the most normal guy in the world
― akm, Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:49 (thirteen years ago)
Listening to this, and I say this as the biggest MBV fan around, totally fucking with the new album, but it makes you wonder though: They could have released this in 1994. Kevin must have LOLLED so hard postponing this until now. Fucking twisted genius he is.
MBV were always timeless, and they are now, too.
Incredible album. Fucking incredible.
― Le Bateau Ivre, Sunday, 3 February 2013 03:54 (thirteen years ago)
Yeah it does sound super 90s. LOVE IT. Makes me feel like i kid again.
