this is really the first time I've paid attention to him, I can understand the love affair

I am so jealous of you for getting to hear like his entire back catalogue for the first time.

My favourite moment on Smalhans is on the final track when he reprises the main theme from I Feel Space and you realise he's doing a victory lap and how much fun it must have been to make this album. Especially given Six Cups of Rebel's reputedly torturous gestation.

xp he might not like it, then we would all hear every year about how he tried Lindstrom once and didn't like it. It's for our own good.

This album is like 35mins long and, if not his best, contains most of the elements that make people fall in love with him.

number one lindstrøm starting point has to be "i feel space" obv

Lindstrom - the cool thing about this album is that he is limiting himself to a fairly narrow range of sounds and feelings and then going all out with them and just make them hit as hard as possible. I like it when an artist explores within a fairly bounded set of restrictions. Still, Real Life is No Cool remains my favorite from him.

i'd say listen to Where You Go I Go Too instead, this one isn't as charming, it doesn't have as much space in it.

there is a synth sound on "Vos-sako-rv" that is very reminiscent of "Robot Rock" that is making me grin a lot

xp: lol that this is the track that comes closest to being named "blood sausage"

Six Cups of Rebel is kind of the opposite approach where he's just throwing in everything and the kitchen sink and going for complete over-the-top maximalism. It's pretty much a prog-rock album.

Six Cups was my #1. Smalhans was my #25. I've decided I'd now much rather hear Lindstrom indulge his inner Todd.

okay sorry dl, 'where you go i go too' is my fav, followed by this album. i might avoid 'six cups of rebel' for a first listen but everything else is great, you just gotta jump in. xp

Lindstrom basically sounds like someone took all of the awesome euphoric Orbital moments and stitched them together

carly rae album is my favorite pure pop album in forever... it's absurd that she only popped one single off (or two if you count the owl city one)

but in another way carly's version of pop is almost retro, or what pure pop sounded like 5 years ago

xp Tho Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson both have recording careers - the only 2012 entry on the Wiki page for the winner of CRJ's year is that he sang Eye of the Tiger for Sylvester Stallone.

The thing about the Carly Rae album is that it may me realise that I really like huge maximalist post-Guetta filterbosh production when it's tied to fantastic songwriting, and that 2013 pop music in general needs to get more songwriters who don't completely blow.

really enjoying the lindstrom/terje track that dropped a couple of weeks back too

smallhans is allright but i'd place it fourth in 2012's norweigan disco output:

i'd never been into his stuff previously but adding gorgeous pure female vox is such an effective contrast with his dank, gloomy bass

"lost and found" is the most representative of that imo
"luxury problems" gives me real mezzanine-era massive attack vibes

i missed out on this one due to no spotify + laziness on my part

andy stott is the epic comedown from the lindstrom

i still cant decide if i like this album or not. it might be too spooky for me

dude is playing honolulu in march though, stoked for him and for honolulu

Can someone describe the Andy Stott record please? It's been high up on my Amazon recommends page for a while now but the associated albums are all over the place stylistically.
