yesssss for CRJ. nothing else gave me so much joy this year, i just want to dance around singing along to it with a hairbrush forever
the bonus tracks are also really key & essential, "Sweetie" is maybe my favourite track on the whole album - generosity for dayyyys

― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 31 January 2013 14:53 (thirteen years ago)

― Ima R.A.E.D. (DJP), Thursday, 31 January 2013 14:53 (thirteen years ago)
Oh, I forgot about that key change in Curiosity. BOLD!
― Johnny Fever, Thursday, 31 January 2013 14:54 (thirteen years ago)
so many times i was on such a rush from "curiosity" and didn't press skip in time and ended up hearing fucking owl city's voice :(
― lex pretend, Thursday, 31 January 2013 14:54 (thirteen years ago)
Just checking - the Blondes album doesn't usually come with the tonne of remixes on the spotify link, right?
― Andrew Farrell, Thursday, 31 January 2013 14:54 (thirteen years ago)
remixes all on disc 2 of the cd
― Jaap and roids (NickB), Thursday, 31 January 2013 14:57 (thirteen years ago)
The remixes were on the second CD it was sold with.
It's the Arps was basically Inspector Norse + some arpy sketches. They were okay, but I know which side of the EP the bread's buttered.
Rong.

TOOOOO LOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
― emil.y, Thursday, 31 January 2013 14:59 (thirteen years ago)
now imagine him singing those words to the accompaniment of dead bat heads being beaten against a garbage can.

TOO HIGH
― 乒乓, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:00 (thirteen years ago)

― Jaap and roids (NickB), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:00 (thirteen years ago)
Wish this had been much higher
― pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:01 (thirteen years ago)
wonder what Scott Walker saying TOOOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW would sound like oh wait maybe i don't. xps
― xyzzzz__, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:01 (thirteen years ago)
Bish Bosch = my #1. Could only be this really. I only got to hear it the first time on Christmas Day but I kind of knew it would be my number 1 before that - felt like the year had been building up to its release. I don't think I'd anticipated the release of an album so much since probably the late nineties. It didn't disappoint. I'm still playing and deciphering it.
― dog latin, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:01 (thirteen years ago)
Scott going POLL! How low can you GOOOO
― the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:01 (thirteen years ago)
none of my votes have shown up but i would have 100% voted for scott walker, probably in my top 3, had i heard the entire album, based on 'epizootics!'
maybe i should give the whole thing a go. ditto swans
― imago, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:01 (thirteen years ago)
I'm now going to read all posts until the next placing in SW voice.
― dog latin, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:02 (thirteen years ago)
enjoy
― Ima R.A.E.D. (DJP), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:02 (thirteen years ago)
dog latin smells
― imago, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:02 (thirteen years ago)
yes lj you should
― pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:02 (thirteen years ago)
My only regret about this album is that there was no Epizootics! style video to go with each and every track. Next time, Scott.
― dog latin, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:03 (thirteen years ago)
4 first places. Who were ya?
this Fiona Apple album is pretty cool
I will probably never play it again
― Ima R.A.E.D. (DJP), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:03 (thirteen years ago)
i'd naturally have him higher, but that seems like a pretty good showing for an extremely divisive and challenging album.
― charlie h, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:03 (thirteen years ago)

Yes, but I wouldn't say these albums need to be heard all in one go. A track or two at a time is fine.
― dog latin, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:05 (thirteen years ago)
It was my number two (number two, number two).
― emil.y, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:05 (thirteen years ago)
immerse yourself fully in them!
― pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:06 (thirteen years ago)
was my #2 as well
carly rae & scott walker should collabo
― johnny crunch, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:08 (thirteen years ago)
YES
― lex pretend, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:09 (thirteen years ago)
or just cover each others' albums
Only if Scott promises to sing some melodies for a change
― Designated Striver (Tom D.), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:09 (thirteen years ago)
Few things would horrify more than Walker singing "Hot Knife."
― the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:10 (thirteen years ago)
scott should definitely do a "call me maybe" viral video
― lex pretend, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:10 (thirteen years ago)
I completely adore the first track on this Blondes album
― Ima R.A.E.D. (DJP), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:10 (thirteen years ago)
Scott needs to do panto this xmas.
― xyzzzz__, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:11 (thirteen years ago)
carly should guest on the next converge album.
― charlie h, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:11 (thirteen years ago)
wouldn't be the first person on this list that he's collaborated with
― Jaap and roids (NickB), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:11 (thirteen years ago)
okay yeah I am gonna be digging into this Blondes album later, good shit
― Ima R.A.E.D. (DJP), Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:12 (thirteen years ago)
scott walker was my #1.
― silverfish, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:13 (thirteen years ago)
SW singing 'Call Me Maybe' has to happen. Although having difficulty imagining CRJ singing 'This is my job/I don't come around and put out your red light where you work'.
― dog latin, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:13 (thirteen years ago)
nice one silverfish
― dog latin, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:14 (thirteen years ago)
DJP - I was gonna ask whether the Blondes alb went downhill from there but ok like me you were really bowled over by that first track.
― xyzzzz__, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:14 (thirteen years ago)
i'm interested in hearing lex's opinion on Bish Bosch. you liked it a bit except for the jokey bits, IIRC?
I think the first track on Blondes is the best one too, but Wine is also good.
― dog latin, Thursday, 31 January 2013 15:15 (thirteen years ago)
imo the first couple of tracks on the blondes album are, if anything, the least essential
xp i listened twice i think and maybe i just haven't been in the mood - even with the latter-day scott i genuinely love it's not like i listen to it regularly - but it didn't inspire the same forbidding sense of awe i was expecting, partly because of the *shudder* sense of humour
