Courtship Dating to sneak in cos everyone had it at number 15 or something? I forget whether or not those guys are hated or not on ILX.

Frank Sumatra (NickB), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:44 (seventeen years ago)

is it los campesinos

your infinity in you is mad lifted (J0rdan S.), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

I wish it was Torche

Boring Sign In Name (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

"Happy House" will be in the top 5. This is a given. I don't see why anyone thinks "If I Were a Boy" or "Bleeding Love" have a chance in hell.

The Reverend (rev), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

maybe my first placing for guilty simpson will pay off ;)

. (a hoy hoy), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:45 (seventeen years ago)

haha nice

The Reverend (rev), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:46 (seventeen years ago)

Bleeding Love is horrid. Worse than American Boy.
Btw I hadn't heard that Young Jeezy track and it's terrific. Thanks ILM!

Boring Sign In Name (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:47 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe voting coincided with the inauguration and a load of people went straight back and voted soppily for My President.

Holy Suffering Gobi Desert Clit Nun (Matt DC), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:48 (seventeen years ago)

Bleeding Love is horrid. Worse than American Boy.

Doesn't do much for me either, but I thought it was generally quite well liked.

Shallow Gravy (Billy Dods), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:48 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe voting coincided with the inauguration and a load of people went straight back and voted soppily for My President.

that would be... unfortunate

nosotros niggamos (HI DERE), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:48 (seventeen years ago)

I'm amazed - I was sure 'American Boy' was a shoo-in for no.1. First time I've heard it for a while, still a great record

Ismael Klata, Friday, 6 February 2009 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

Maybe my #1 vote for "Love in This Club" somehow convinced all the haters, haha.

Maciej (maciej recognizing trill), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:49 (seventeen years ago)

Kevin K I've come round a bit to "Skeletal Lamping" again...it's a good album to listen to as a whole, but trying to "get" individual tracks is imo maddening and pointless :)

(and yeah, The Fiery Furnaces are mad underrated here)

Robin van Injury (country matters), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:50 (seventeen years ago)

really miffed "princes" (GANG GANG DANCE) has been passed over

rent, Friday, 6 February 2009 20:53 (seventeen years ago)

...if it has been

rent, Friday, 6 February 2009 20:53 (seventeen years ago)

haha good :) that's just what i tell people, i think if a record gives you an 'in' song that you can learn to love, it'll be easier to let your guard down and really engage with the rest of it. that was the first ninety seconds of the album and 'an eluardian instance' for me. but we can talk more about it next week if, lord willin', it places

jammed hymen (k3vin k.), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:54 (seventeen years ago)

xpost i would be down for 'princes'; i didnt get into the record until just recently, and princes is fantastic

jammed hymen (k3vin k.), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:55 (seventeen years ago)

prev post was xpost to LJ btw

jammed hymen (k3vin k.), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:55 (seventeen years ago)

I think what makes me enjoy the album is that I really like plenty of the little bits, and plenty of the transitions between bits. I almost try to forget that it's made of songs, UNLIKE, say, The Fiery Furnaces' albums, whose songs, no matter how complicated, almost always have some sort of decipherable and hermetic narrative.

Robin van Injury (country matters), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:58 (seventeen years ago)

What about "Swagger Like Us," is that gonna place?

ilxor, Friday, 6 February 2009 20:58 (seventeen years ago)

there is no way more people voted for slu than a milli or put on.

. (a hoy hoy), Friday, 6 February 2009 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

Top five:

Happy House
Paper Planes
Blind
Swagger Like Us
Love Story

ilxor, Friday, 6 February 2009 20:59 (seventeen years ago)

okay I swear this is my last Santogold post on this thread but this kind of highlights why "Starstruck" is secretly my favorite song on the album:

nosotros niggamos (HI DERE), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:00 (seventeen years ago)

what's love story?

. (a hoy hoy), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:00 (seventeen years ago)

What about Miley Cyrus, any chance for "See You Again" here???

ilxor, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:00 (seventeen years ago)

"Love Story" is Taylor Swift...

ilxor, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:00 (seventeen years ago)

swagger like us? wtf

your infinity in you is mad lifted (J0rdan S.), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:01 (seventeen years ago)

here's a tip for all you miss cleos out there: predict songs for the top 5 that people actually like

your infinity in you is mad lifted (J0rdan S.), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:01 (seventeen years ago)

danity kane "damaged" is obviously going top 5

The Brainwasher, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:02 (seventeen years ago)

na i can't see SLU placing; it's a poll, so it's going to be something that a LOT of people voted for. totally forgot about 'love story', yeah that could find a place. paper planes and blind too

jammed hymen (k3vin k.), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:03 (seventeen years ago)

Lady Gaga - "Just Dance"

nosotros niggamos (HI DERE), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:03 (seventeen years ago)

kill me now

Plaxico (I know, right?), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:03 (seventeen years ago)

hopefully this means that everyone voted for that idjut boys phil collins re-edit

Plaxico (I know, right?), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:04 (seventeen years ago)

do-do you.. have a first...aid...kit...handy?

The Brainwasher, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:04 (seventeen years ago)

No Dizzee thus far, but there's been a couple of other polls where I've been the only one repping for him so I have no great hopes there. No Coldplay yet either

Ismael Klata, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:05 (seventeen years ago)

nobody likes coldplay here

The Brainwasher, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

Alicia Keys - "No One"

nosotros niggamos (HI DERE), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

lol

The Brainwasher, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

Jazmine Sullivan?

danzig, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:06 (seventeen years ago)

that's me being crazily optimistic

danzig, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:07 (seventeen years ago)

I think the only thing Dizzee had this year was the Calvin Harris abomination - I can't comprehend a world where that beats Hot Chip let alone A Milli or American Boy.

. (a hoy hoy), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:07 (seventeen years ago)

I wish but no.

xp

The Brainwasher, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:07 (seventeen years ago)

Ray J - "Sexy Can I"

nosotros niggamos (HI DERE), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:07 (seventeen years ago)

na i can't see SLU placing - ya I thought the T.I. singles were pretty lackluster except for NMW, at least compared with King. Hopefully SLU and "Whatever You Like" (that didn't already place, did it?) will be absent.

Ricky Apples (Pillbox), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:09 (seventeen years ago)

guys, Battles was #2 in 2007. It'll probably be TV on the Radio or Fleet Foxes or something.

The Brainwasher, Friday, 6 February 2009 21:10 (seventeen years ago)

^im sayin

your infinity in you is mad lifted (J0rdan S.), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:11 (seventeen years ago)

"See You Again" is a really good prediction, no way it's "Love Song."

"Happy House"
"Blind"
"Paper Planes"???
"Do You Mind"?????
"Touch My Body"????
"Yahh Trick Yahhh!!!!!!!"

Someone Still Loves You Evan and Jaron (Tape Store), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:11 (seventeen years ago)

Donk is going to win this isn't it. :)

. (a hoy hoy), Friday, 6 February 2009 21:13 (seventeen years ago)

Brainwasher, "Atlas" was a fucking phenomenal song with a unique sound that united fans of all sorts of music; an art-rock song that popped, locked and rolled, filling headphones and dancefloors alike while exploring very original musical territory.

Mentioning it in the same sentence as TVOTR or FF is lunk-headed.
