I thought for sure that some of those smaller liberal arts type schools (American, Emerson) would be at least SOMEWHAT different.

1. DMB 2. Coldplay 3. Jack Johnson 4. The Beatles 5. U2 6. Counting Crows 7. Ben Folds 8. The Killers 9. Green Day 10. Led Zeppelin -- PB (non...), December 20th, 2005.
My school (which is Wayne State, in the middle of Detroit) had almost the exact same list:
1. DMB 2. Coldplay 3. Jack Johnson 4. The Beatles 5. Green Day 6. R&B 7. Rap 8. The Killers -1 9. Led Zeppelin -1 10. Country
I think this says more about facebook users than members of said schools. Trust me.

Howard:1. R&B 2. Hip Hop 3. Rap 4. Reggae -15. Gospel -16. Jazz -17. Jay-Z -18. Kanye West -19. John Legend -110. Common -1
Spelman1. R&B 2. Hip Hop 3. Gospel 4. Rap 5. John Legend -16. Jazz -17. Reggae -18. Kanye West -19. Jay-Z -110. Neo-Soul -1
Alabama State1. R&B 2. Rap 3. Gospel -14. Hip Hop -15. Jazz -16. Rap and R&B 7. T.I. -28. Jay-Z -29. Kanye West +110. Neo-Soul -1
Morehouse1. R&B 2. Rap 3. Hip Hop -14. Jazz -15. Jay-Z -16. Gospel -17. T.I. -18. Kanye West -19. Nas -110. Common
And by varied, I mean "exactly the same but at least no DMB/Coldplay/Jack Johnson!"

In retrospect, I think the funniest thing about Facebook was getting a crush on some girl or another in one of my classes, then tracking said girl down on Facebook and being all excited, only to instantly lose interest at the sight of something like this:
------ Favorite Music: The Fray, Dave Barnes, Dierks Bentley, Snow Patrol, Michael Buble, Hellogoodbye, Honestly, Five For Fighting, John Mayer, Lifehouse, Matt Wertz, Damien Rice, Stephen Speaks, James Blunt, Keith Urban, Jason Mraz, Tim McGraw, Jack Johnson, Cold play, Switchfoot, Gavin Degraw, Maroon 5 ------
And I mean, that's just a generic example. This has probably happened to me dozens of times in my college years. I eventually gave up on girls I dated having good taste in music.
:(

How come the ILX Facebook groups have such unoriginal names? "I Love Music"? "I Love Everything"? Come on, we can do better than that.

ILM's current favourite bands don't make the list because typical mainstream singles list acts of 2009 are mainly popular with kids who have yet to join Facebook because they are too young. :)

I still don't get Facebook. I can't find anyone I know. Why is it so inconvenient? How did all these people on Facebook find everyone they know and even people they don't know? I'm eating chewy candy shaped as wedges of fruit.

facebook is mostly good for scrabble imo.
There's several dozen groups called I Love Music now, so not so easy. Is there any way to identify the real one? What's the graphic used, type and number of members right now?

I mean, is it really relevant to other people? I'm more or less dependent on it nowadays but for those that aren't already really into it, what's the point?
I hate trying to get my friends to join my Rock Legends app as a groupie; but how else am I going to become a rock legend?
― CaptainLorax, Saturday, 1 August 2009 16:47 (sixteen years ago)
there seems to a trend of people linking ilx threads from their facebook status updates. is it just me who is kinda not into that? perfectly prepared for the answer to be "yeah dude it's just you," there are plenty of questions I have about stuff which can accurately be answered "yeah that sounds like more your deal than anybody's problem"

I keep ilx and facebook as entirely separate worlds. Like, there are so many facebook.friends who are like, obligatorily involved in my life. If I posted an ilx facebook status update, or commented on someone's ilxor fb status update, I'd be opening the ilxor door to people who I'd much.rather just know as IRL people.

I found a credit card in the street the other day and within 48 hours had located the owner (two towns over) on Facebook, ascertained that she wanted it destroyed, sent her a picture of me cutting it up and received a message of profuse thanks. It was like a window into a bizarre universe where the site had some kind of useful purpose.
