we have to redo the poll now, good job

ciderpress, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:07 (thirteen years ago)

i said this before, but on this album she covers her full spectrum from preschool teacher to Disney heroine/prewar pop to crazy crazy crazy lady and that is what i love about her. she tries lots of different things and even when she doesn't hit her target (I didn't love Graphic as a Star, was kinda dull) it's pretty.

anyway

more results, i feel like my work here is done

every dog latin has his day (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:09 (thirteen years ago)

xp - that is why i nominated it in the tracks poll (early!) so people could accidentally hear it when they played the ilx spotify list on shuffle and be like WHAAAAA

this customer is a jerk (La Lechera), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:09 (thirteen years ago)

in 2013, polls will change forever

ciderpress, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:10 (thirteen years ago)

this customer is a jerk (La Lechera), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:10 (thirteen years ago)

if she's not out yet, this may be my most magical bitching of all time

this customer is a jerk (La Lechera), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:11 (thirteen years ago)

her voice is amazing but i do know why some cant take it. But she has put out a lot of quality records in her time.

pfunkboy (Algerian Goalkeeper), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:12 (thirteen years ago)

Jaap and roids (NickB), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:17 (thirteen years ago)

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:22 (thirteen years ago)

I voted for 'Geyser' in the tracks poll, was hoping to buy the album before poll time but failed...

emil.y, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:38 (thirteen years ago)

乒乓, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:49 (thirteen years ago)

I like the Josephine Foster record, but her voice is definitely an acquired taste

Dan S, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:51 (thirteen years ago)

Hi, everybody! This getting up early shit can apparently only sustain itself for a maximum of two days. Rollout starts late today, but starts now...

Bel-Air the Fresh Prince, sitting in a chair (DJP), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:55 (thirteen years ago)

What is Wild Nothing? And are they any more tangible than Cloud Nothings?

dog latin, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:55 (thirteen years ago)

ha, xposts

dog latin, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:55 (thirteen years ago)

googled these guys, literally everything that came up immediately made me close the tab down for fear of contamination

lex pretend, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 15:56 (thirteen years ago)

there's a little bit of "this would have been my favorite band in 1987" going on here

My number 1. Suck it.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:01 (thirteen years ago)

I haven't heard this record but I approve of Gukbe's post.

pandemic, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:03 (thirteen years ago)

This is fun. Thanks Gukbe & co.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:06 (thirteen years ago)

good album

christmas candy bar (al leong), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:07 (thirteen years ago)

cad: I felt the opposite. I thought the first album to be patchy and a bit of a snooze save a couple of great tracks. Much preferred the Golden Haze EP so I figured I could only handle him in small doses, but I wound up listening to this album more than any other this year for whatever reason.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:07 (thirteen years ago)

Is this a 25 year anniversary reissue or something?

queef ka queef (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:08 (thirteen years ago)

If haters want some added ammunition, watch the "Paradise" video in which Michelle Williams listens to a mixtape on a Walkman and stares at waterfalls. I imagine it to be Lex's ludovico.

Gukbe, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:12 (thirteen years ago)

i could listen to the riff at the beginning of Nocturne (the song) forever

39. NICKI MINAJ Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (362 Points, 13 Votes) Spotify

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:13 (thirteen years ago)

the Wild Nothing is a very nice, pleasant album

it reminds me of the pleasant parts of junior high, kind of a generic stand-in for all of the jangly British guitar bands I was just beginning to discover as hair metal forced my attention away from pop radio

Nicki's album was 3-4 amazing songs buried under a pile of nonsense

Bel-Air the Fresh Prince, sitting in a chair (DJP), Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:15 (thirteen years ago)

The highs on the Nicki album are way high but my word there's some absolute dross as well.

pandemic, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:18 (thirteen years ago)

i like wild nothing, happy to see them way up here

ciderpress, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:19 (thirteen years ago)

She also has the very best mockney accent.

xp

pandemic, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:21 (thirteen years ago)

I'm sure I've listened to this Wild Nothing album before, but I didn't remember it sounding so nice. I remember his first one being a mixed bag, but this is really, really well put-together and it sounds amazing.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:21 (thirteen years ago)

Not sure if I voted but I dig the Wild Nothing. I like a lot of stuff on Captured Tracks these days, with The Soft Moon, DIIV, Mac DeMarco and some reissues.

While Converge was #1 in metal poll, there's still others that would have more crossover appeal. Of the heavy rock/metal, I would expect to see Baroness and Goat for sure, possibly Om, Neurosis, Torche, Aluk Todolo, Alcest, and probably not Witchcraft, Graveyard, Jess And The Ancient Ones, Royal Thunder or Les Discrets but I recommend them to heavy music dabblers. I doubt I'll see my #1.

Fastnbulbous, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

This is my favourite jam from the Nicki today I Am Your Leader

pandemic, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:23 (thirteen years ago)

Adn I think Swans top 10 for sure.

Fastnbulbous, Wednesday, 30 January 2013 16:25 (thirteen years ago)

Alcest has had some success in previous ilm polls iirc.
