iirc y'all were into the line "have ten kids and teach 'em how to dream" but i still haaaaaate it

"treacherous" explores it's key theme - the split between head and heart, the irresistible almost inevitable compulsion to do the "wrong" thing - in so many different and subtle ways, it's hard to top lyrically. The fact that the performance is so affecting makes it kinda ridiculous in its gratuitous greatness

i think one of my (endless) favourite things about "treacherous" is the contrast between the very consciously delicate verses, where she might say she doesn't know if it's a choice but she's definitely trying to present herself as this powerless fragile flower who just can't help being swept away. which is the right performance for those words but also disingenuous, so when she actually gives in and owns her own power & agency - "and i will GET YOU, GET YOU ALONE" - it's such a fucking rush

It'd be nice to promote a crosstown classic and have every fan of Taylor Swift listen to the new Tegan & Sara, and every fan of Tegan & Sara listen to the Taylor Swift. Then they should fill out a survey.

The verses are maybe not as good as the driving propulsion of the verses in the original, but the little winding bit in the chorus is great and the drops are kind of awesome?

"Breathe" has the most effortlessly classic melody ever.

yeah 'enchanted' is top five dead or alive taylor

love how the delivery of 'please don't be in love with some one else / please don't have somebody waiting on you ' is delivered squarely on the beat, functions like an incantation

When that first comes in on the lower octave and then switches up I'm always like "bitch stop hogging all the melodies"
