fwiw i've seen the lone album cover several times and it never made an impression until seeing the b&w version

I forgot to vote for this. Nothing I would have voted for turning up so far. Im not familiar with any of these albums tbh. As for stuff im familiar with….grizzly bear ARE boring. I never got into animal collective except for that ‘peacebone’ song. I like that Metz track, “sad pricks” a lot but I haven’t heard the album. I just listened to the laurel halo album and its very purty. I gert what the fuss is about, its really good and that’s only my first listen. what ive heard from nina kraviz is good too.

the grayscale thing is interesting to me because i've been banging on the last couple years about every other album cover (in indie/'acclaimed' type cicles at least) is in black/white/gray so i'm curious to see how often it doesn't much change the look of the album cover in question.

but seriously, I like the b&w.

That Lone cover is less striking to those who remember Buggy Riphead's digital anenomes for FSOL's Lifeforms era artwork/media and not a few imitators from the psytrance/psyambient scenes thereafter.

I love the Lone cover because it looks exactly like the album sounds like.

Would be fun if the percentage of colour increased with every entry.

ugh, i'm already spending all my free time animating all of the coint and plick results for next week's rollout!

(also i like the b/w! it's something new to think about when seeing all these covers again for the billionth time!)

um so if it's clear that there is absolutely no good reason for these to be in grayscale can we do the rest in color? so they look like the actual covers of the albums we're polling?

There is a good reason: that is the design aesthetic the poll roll-out has this year. So suck it.

ok, points taken, whatever. i think it's important to see what album covers look like, more important than someone's cool color scheme. n.b. i'm an archivist not a designer.

and the "you didn't do the work, don't complain" response is just the worst, i'll work on not caring about changing album covers if u work on not being a moron.

next year all tracks poll screnshots need to be from fan-made youtube videos

there was a year the goons ran their own invite-only rap poll and started posting the results to ILM in a big rollout thread which prompted some "wtf get a blog" arguments and culminated in Whiney qutting the rollout after 10 or so albums

J0rdan picked it up shortly afterward but the whole thing was pretty funny
