yeah i don't know whyyyyy though. the beat is just incredible, those chiming sounds and twinkling synths and huge bass and background gothic choirs and "ride" quote, and i love ciara when she turns her swag on, not just when she's doing the soft sexy shit. "wake up, no make-up" is the logical next step after the "sorry" remix, it's hazy/druggy r&b done right

I think Wake Up No Make Up is *almost* as good as this one. There was some backlash because Rihanna had already done the Mike Will thing, I guess?

right, i forgot, mike will can only produce for one singer ever, though if it's rihanna literally reusing "bandz a make her dance" will be fine

Wasn't the "problem" that Wake Up sounded like Pour It Up, which sounded like Bandz? I loved it anyway, just saying that I understood that to be the issue people had with it. This time around Future is the story rather than Mike Will Made It, and apparently that's more easily digestible, not least since there's romance involved.

"Wake Up" doesn't really sound like either of those songs imo. a bit like "Tony Montana" and a bit like "Karate Chop," but not as similar as "Pour" is to "Bandz."
