ten months pass...

So... anyone going this year? I'll be working Todd-o-phonic Todd's table on Friday if you want to visit.

Evan, Wednesday, 20 November 2013 21:19 (ten years ago) link

Fri eve always tough for me. Think many friends will be there Sat, so then. Maybe Sunday too, for... Blowfly.

http://wfmu.org/recfair/rf_livebcasts.html

I'm too old and tired to work at the FMU table.

i'll be there on Saturday, wish i could stay for Blowfly!

I'm amped for this--bought a new turntable and haven't bought records in years. My friend tells me that classic rock records sell for a lot now because youngsters with a lot of money to burn are building collections. Somehow I thought there would be cheap copies of Exile on Main Street forever (I have lost a lot of records I had 30 years ago!)

I met a Laura Cantrell hater!

tokyo rosemary, Monday, 2 June 2014 00:06 (ten years ago) link

how is that even possible?

Thus Sang Freud, Monday, 2 June 2014 00:31 (ten years ago) link

How was the fair? Not 18th Street, right?

Iago Galdston, Monday, 2 June 2014 01:18 (ten years ago) link

I saw a Laura Cantrell today walking down 37th Avenue.

Picked up a Folk Implosion record and that's it. Felt kind of defeated I couldn't pull the trigger on some other things in time and make the trip more worth it.

Vendor tables for WFMU's 2015 Record Fair are selling out quickly! This year's fair is May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the Brooklyn Expo Center (72 Noble St in Greenpoint.

touch of a love-starved cobra (Dr Morbius), Sunday, 15 March 2015 16:40 (nine years ago) link

i was actually thinking of going halfsies on a table, but given the time crunch if i actually cull before moving i guess i'll just call ian.

touch of a love-starved cobra (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 18 March 2015 19:16 (nine years ago) link

does ian set up a table there? I haven't bumped into him at any of these yet.

It looks like I'll probably be helping out a Todd-o-phonic Todd's table this year again.

Evan, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 19:37 (nine years ago) link

he occasionally appears on either side of a table.

touch of a love-starved cobra (Dr Morbius), Wednesday, 18 March 2015 19:59 (nine years ago) link

Right! Well either way I must have missed him.

Evan, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 20:49 (nine years ago) link

one month passes...

it'll be interesting to see if the non-Brooklyn crowd can find their way to Greenpoint (with the L train down).

Note above, you can see the FMU documentary film on Saturday at 1:30.

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Monday, 27 April 2015 19:25 (nine years ago) link

It'll be interesting for sure. Academy Records literally sharing a wall with the space- this should work out well for them.

Evan, Monday, 27 April 2015 19:46 (nine years ago) link

Should be fine as long as the G train is running. Not really that confusing.

kwhitehead, Tuesday, 28 April 2015 18:16 (nine years ago) link

Nah, but it still has the potential to affect the total turnout.

Evan, Tuesday, 28 April 2015 18:40 (nine years ago) link

Possibly but I have a feeling it's gonna be pretty packed.

kwhitehead, Tuesday, 28 April 2015 18:44 (nine years ago) link

might go late Sunday, on way home from Mets game?

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Friday, 1 May 2015 13:54 (nine years ago) link

Just got back. Very nice space, light and airy, unlike previous venues. Very dismayed at the jacked up prices though.

kwhitehead, Sunday, 3 May 2015 20:23 (nine years ago) link

ditto on the air and light

after admission, i spent $5.

the increasing costive borborygmi (Dr Morbius), Monday, 4 May 2015 00:37 (nine years ago) link

I saw ian there. He said the same exact thing!

Worked Todd-o-phonic's table Friday/Saturday and we took turns walking around.

I did really well myself:

Pastels - Illumination
Brilliant Corners - Somebody Up There Likes Me
Th' Faith Healers - Lido
Chuck Johnson - Crows In The Basilica
14 Iced Bears - S/T
Stereolab - Peng!
Beat Happening - Jamboree
Pooh Sticks - Formula One Generation
Silkworm - Never Met A Man I Didn't Like (7")
Tall Dwarfs - That's The Short And The Long Of It

Evan, Monday, 4 May 2015 01:06 (nine years ago) link

I bought mostly 7"s. I only went to a few tables.
