complex has done listicles for years but it seems like only since deef's been there that they do hopelessly meta listicles of "25 things everyone thinks about hip-hop (but nobody will say" and "25 most hated on rappers"

getting an smartphone is the first thing that's made me understand complex's layout at all. it would be nice if they had a non-mobile version of their site tho.

you can say it's ugly but how is it difficult to navigate? you click on the name of the feature you want and it takes you there
― congratulations (n/a), Monday, 31 December 2012 21:58 (eleven years ago) link
youre apparently better at communicating ambiguity
just to be clear, you realize i'm talking about the place his vocals land on the beat (as in which part of the beat) rather than the slightly 'off' rhythmic nature of his voice that somedude is talking about, right -- hes putting his vocals down in unconventional places w/in the rhythm of the track

I tend to believe that the qualitative aspects of a classic—the ones not dictated by the great tastemaker called time—should be measured by an artist's ability to perfect their own blueprint, not The Blueprint.

I figured that since we were on ilm, chief keef was some underground rapper who only put out mixtapes on datpiff or something, but i just saw one of his CDs in target today! I guess he's the taylor swift of rappers or something?

Admittedly I haven't tried to stream the YLT record yet, so maybe the "controllable" content is really awesome, but man they are really proud of themselves for catching up to what NPR has been doing for years now.

I was glad to stream the album, and happy to easily see/read the liner notes for the record - something that is missing from the rest of my iTunes library. I don't really knock them for giving it a heavy PR spin, even if the BS is high. What are they supposed to do, not announce that they are streaming full albums?

they seriously need to start having the writers pen frontpage blurbs for their own reviews, or have the editor(s) put more thought into the summaries, because the 'randomly cherrypick and recontextualize words from the review' style has gotten so sloppy

You could, but that wouldn't change how half-assed that blurb is or the negative impression it gives the site by being in a prominent spot on the front page.
