i hadn't heard him on day 5 of The Trinidad James Era but it's been a couple months since then, i have heard him now
― fanute me or shoot me (some dude), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 21:21 (thirteen years ago)
i mean you can't really listen to the radio w/o hearing him at this point
― fanute me or shoot me (some dude), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 21:43 (thirteen years ago)
that's a hot song
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 26 December 2012 22:14 (thirteen years ago)
did you just endorse "all gold everything" or am i not following this conversation correctly
― fanute me or shoot me (some dude), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 22:20 (thirteen years ago)
yeah i think that's a good single
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 26 December 2012 22:26 (thirteen years ago)
nothing else he's done is even remotely good but i won't deny that "all gold everything" bangs
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 26 December 2012 22:27 (thirteen years ago)
usually when someone who can barely rap gets hot off one song there's some good production involved but i don't fuck with that beat at all
― fanute me or shoot me (some dude), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 22:32 (thirteen years ago)
oh yeah the beat is cool
― sisilafami, Wednesday, 26 December 2012 22:34 (thirteen years ago)
i think it's pretty dope... not an amazing beat but serviceable. that little raking noise is kinda cool. i actually think his rapping on that song are a big reason why the song works... i mean it's kinda crazy that dude has the hottest song in rap and the entire song is basically one long verse where he literally doesn't even rhyme. it's very post-lil b so i understand that it doesn't really crossover with the ship aesthetic.
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 26 December 2012 22:39 (thirteen years ago)
i suppose it's too much to ask at this point that we not be little venn diagrams of taste profiles
― fanute me or shoot me (some dude), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 23:31 (thirteen years ago)
although i do agree that it's interesting anytime a radio hit departs from the 16 bars/hook/16 bars/hook standard, seems to be happening more and more now
― fanute me or shoot me (some dude), Wednesday, 26 December 2012 23:35 (thirteen years ago)
I don't really like TJ as a rapper, but the song works and the beat is good.

― D-40, Thursday, 27 December 2012 05:51 (thirteen years ago)
the obviousness of the sample on 'juke juke' kept me from loving it altho i like what they do w/ the juke parts
― D-40, Thursday, 27 December 2012 06:05 (thirteen years ago)
i like some Rich Kidz songs, just got a bit much over the course of a whole tape imo. that one guy's voice especially.
― fanute me or shoot me (some dude), Thursday, 27 December 2012 15:20 (thirteen years ago)
stuff like Young Thug basically reminds me of when i used to listen to 150 Baltimore mixtapes a year and what the bottom 5% of that sounded like
― fanute me or shoot me (some dude), Thursday, 27 December 2012 15:25 (thirteen years ago)
did you like 'foreign' by him any more or are you not going on the whole thinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXiUBlPlRkQ
― D-40, Thursday, 27 December 2012 15:32 (thirteen years ago)
hadn't heard that one, better than the others i guess. i realize that "sounds like lil wayne" is a genre in 2012 but if you can't even rise to the standards of 2012 lil wayne then kill yourself imo.

not that u guys were expecting me to respond any other way. but the soulja boy comparison suggests a level of accidental & coincidence where i'm hearing more intent & personality but ymmv
― D-40, Thursday, 27 December 2012 20:22 (thirteen years ago)
but 'ineptitude,' really
― D-40, Thursday, 27 December 2012 20:23 (thirteen years ago)
the other way the soulja comparison doesn't work is that it was the song that went viral, not the artist. ppl liked the dance & the video & werent wrapped up in soulja boy as a person iirc? i mean, we were all around when it hit but i don't recall the same level of connection to who soulja boy was
― D-40, Thursday, 27 December 2012 20:27 (thirteen years ago)
uhhh isn't rapradar like a haven for middlebrow aftermath bullshit rap or am i missing something completely

Forks whats a couple releases you liked this year that never got brought up itt?
― small-scale fux with (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Thursday, 27 December 2012 20:58 (thirteen years ago)
hip hop releases? not many and primarily far more poppy than this thread cares to deal with.I disagree with a lot of trap uber alles and crit rhetoric that gets slung around on here but it's been an excellent source for new music this year, no doubt. it's why i'm here!
― ILX is not a non-profit — we are just not profitable (forksclovetofu), Thursday, 27 December 2012 21:01 (thirteen years ago)
