Not sure if this is the thread for this, but you guys know your stuff so I figure I can't go too wrong.

I wanna get into Moodymanc despite his artist name - where do I start? What does he compare to?

studyplenty, Saturday, 12 January 2013 18:22 (thirteen years ago)

that probably depends on why you want to get into him

xp Sad news about Callisto (where did you hear this?)

He released some wicked stuff on Strictly and Guidance.

millmeister, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 09:57 (thirteen years ago)

was from David Alvarado's twitter so got to assume its real. he didnt really have much web presence and had dropped off the radar in recent years so i dont know what actually happened

super underrated producer and one that seems to have missed out on the more recent retrospective recognition that others from that time period received

lyhqtu, Wednesday, 6 February 2013 11:23 (thirteen years ago)

old italo-ish tune?

Mike Simonetti - Torino Fog

formerly EDB (ed.b), Monday, 11 February 2013 00:11 (thirteen years ago)

Perseo was all edits I think, right? Don't know the source of that though.

dan selzer, Monday, 11 February 2013 00:36 (thirteen years ago)

looks like it - kinda shady for him not to credit the original artist in any way?

lyhqtu, Monday, 11 February 2013 09:29 (thirteen years ago)

pretty standard operating procedure for edit culture, with a lot of historical precedence. He had some thoughts about edits to share at one point though:

are disco edits the new electroclash?

dan selzer, Monday, 11 February 2013 14:20 (thirteen years ago)

guess the original artists has forgotten about it now anyway

lyhqtu, Monday, 11 February 2013 14:26 (thirteen years ago)

I guess this can go here... The Essential Dana Kelly

when the woman comes in and asks "why don't you move your body?"

so good

KitevsPill, Saturday, 16 February 2013 14:26 (thirteen years ago)

Yeah nice one FACT. Good write up for an underrated artist.

millmeister, Saturday, 16 February 2013 18:00 (thirteen years ago)

I made a pretty weird and noisy mix with a bunch of techno/house bobbins of the past mixed with some weird noise stuff and sun city girls and the doors and alvin lucier. check it out here:

Damn that Meta track is fine. Damn there’s none for sale on Discogs.

Sounds quite modern to me, but maybe I’m just listening to too much Dutch West Coast/l.i.e.s. stuff at the moment.

Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 4 April 2013 19:47 (thirteen years ago)

It is lovely though, let me know if you find out what it is.

Nice find, going straight on the wantlist.

Chewshabadoo, Friday, 5 April 2013 22:52 (thirteen years ago)

wow

the late great, Friday, 5 April 2013 23:16 (thirteen years ago)

it's awesome. literally just revamped all my dj stuff this week, first time i've had both record decks and cd-js with me in one place in years, new needles and a new mixer and speakers, can't wait to start buying stuff like the above.

also really want this lp - http://www.discogs.com/African-Dream-The-African-Dream/release/128584 after hearing maxmillion dunbar play a tune off it, all the available tracks sound awesome:

Trying to think of old stuff I’ve discovered recently. Heard this Moodymann track last weekend which I don’t think I’d heard before, is this well known to anyone? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FQ6ZoTHVK4
