am i going to regret removing "don't look back" and "pussy is mine" from my ipod?
― flopson, Saturday, 8 December 2012 19:40 (thirteen years ago)
"Don't look back" gets stuck in my head a lot. This thread's critique of that song is unjustly harsh IMO. I think it's cool.
― billstevejim, Saturday, 8 December 2012 19:43 (thirteen years ago)
Don't Look Back felt like a weak link at first but it's grown on me. Do You still troubles me a bit, though.
― Room 227 (cryptosicko), Saturday, 8 December 2012 19:49 (thirteen years ago)
i really like the verses and the bridge but, fuck, that chorus is unforgiveable
― flopson, Saturday, 8 December 2012 19:53 (thirteen years ago)
Every song now gets stuck in my head!
― the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Saturday, 8 December 2012 19:55 (thirteen years ago)
i could probably live without "pussy is mine" (though it's fine) but "dont look back"is pretty essential
― k3vin k., Saturday, 8 December 2012 19:59 (thirteen years ago)
"do you" is awesome
― flopson, Saturday, 8 December 2012 20:02 (thirteen years ago)
Do You sounds like something on the soundtrack for 50 First Dates
― send Lawyers (Drugs A. Money), Saturday, 8 December 2012 20:33 (thirteen years ago)
Like I can totally see 311 covering it or something
― send Lawyers (Drugs A. Money), Saturday, 8 December 2012 20:36 (thirteen years ago)
O_o
― 乒乓, Saturday, 8 December 2012 20:37 (thirteen years ago)
"Don't Look Back" is great y'all are trippin. I especially can't imagine removing the "Time of the Season" cover
― rap乒 4-tay (The Reverend), Saturday, 8 December 2012 20:50 (thirteen years ago)
xxpost
Ok it may be my least fave song on the album, but it hardly deserves THAT.
Also, the Time of the Season bit is what makes Don't Look Back, for me.
― Room 227 (cryptosicko), Saturday, 8 December 2012 20:56 (thirteen years ago)
I'm not saying its not better than every 311 song ever
― send Lawyers (Drugs A. Money), Saturday, 8 December 2012 20:58 (thirteen years ago)
BUSTED
― flopson, Saturday, 8 December 2012 21:00 (thirteen years ago)
Every song now gets stuck in my head!Okay, well for me I typically only get good songs stuck in my head.
― billstevejim, Saturday, 8 December 2012 21:28 (thirteen years ago)
i'm prob one of the most outspoken anti-"Don't Look Back" people but i've made peace with it in that 'man i love this fucking album even the parts i don't love' way, has some nice bits.
"Do You" is amazing and if you can't enjoy saccharine reggae without thinking of the worst possible examples thereof i feel sorry for you son
― some dude, Sunday, 9 December 2012 04:47 (thirteen years ago)
really only "Candles in the Sun" doesn't occupy my brain at all

― J0rdan S., Sunday, 9 December 2012 10:10 (thirteen years ago)
do you like drugs?have you ever felt alone?do you still believe in love?
^^such key questions
it is the most romantic song of the year for me
― #YOLO ONO (lex pretend), Sunday, 9 December 2012 12:20 (thirteen years ago)
'don't look back' is charmingly ponderous but it's true that I can only stand it about 1/3 of the time
― 乒乓, Sunday, 9 December 2012 13:25 (thirteen years ago)
The moment when that slap bass enters the song = best of the year.
― the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 9 December 2012 13:30 (thirteen years ago)
on "Do You"? yes, totally
― some dude, Sunday, 9 December 2012 13:47 (thirteen years ago)
Ok yeah the bass is awesome
― send Lawyers (Drugs A. Money), Sunday, 9 December 2012 15:19 (thirteen years ago)
the contrast between the glistening blissed out vibe of the song and the drugs'n'bass is what makes it all work
― some dude, Sunday, 9 December 2012 16:31 (thirteen years ago)
yall love it cos it sounds like steely dan, come clean already
― r|t|c, Sunday, 9 December 2012 17:23 (thirteen years ago)
:|
― 乒乓, Sunday, 9 December 2012 17:25 (thirteen years ago)
i really should finally listen to steely dan
― #YOLO ONO (lex pretend), Sunday, 9 December 2012 17:26 (thirteen years ago)
!!
― 乒乓, Sunday, 9 December 2012 17:27 (thirteen years ago)
if something sounded like steely dan i'd readily admit that that's why i like it!
― some dude, Sunday, 9 December 2012 17:28 (thirteen years ago)
god now i really would give anything to hear The Dukes Of September run through "Do You" now though
― some dude, Sunday, 9 December 2012 17:30 (thirteen years ago)
is that a demurral then
i don't and i won't but if i were to delete one thing off this lp it'd be 'candles in the wind', p much hate that shit in any version
― r|t|c, Sunday, 9 December 2012 17:31 (thirteen years ago)
the keyboards and drums on the 'live' version sound so gross and depressing
― some dude, Sunday, 9 December 2012 17:32 (thirteen years ago)
removing that would also unencumber 'pussy is mine' from deep cut to light outro closer
ah fuckit ima do it
― r|t|c, Sunday, 9 December 2012 17:35 (thirteen years ago)
haha yes
― k3vin k., Sunday, 9 December 2012 18:38 (thirteen years ago)
i would guess will hate the dan but can't be sure.
― k3vin k., Sunday, 9 December 2012 18:39 (thirteen years ago)
i dunno, lex likes tom waits and leonard cohen, could be a good fit
― some dude, Sunday, 9 December 2012 18:42 (thirteen years ago)
which era should we start him out with?
― 乒乓, Sunday, 9 December 2012 18:52 (thirteen years ago)

It can't have too many guitars or "rock" so scratch the first two.
― the little prince of inane false binary hype (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 9 December 2012 18:56 (thirteen years ago)
No I'm never gonna do it without The Lex on Oh no

one of the few times i get mad at the sonic limitations of my car stereo
― some dude, Sunday, 9 December 2012 19:15 (thirteen years ago)
this album sounds a lot better on speakers than on headphones imo, and like to a weird extent
― flopson, Sunday, 9 December 2012 20:06 (thirteen years ago)
yeah it's true
― J0rdan S., Sunday, 9 December 2012 20:08 (thirteen years ago)
I dont know how I forgot about the slap bass; I do love that. Was way rong and take it all back.
― send Lawyers (Drugs A. Money), Sunday, 9 December 2012 20:21 (thirteen years ago)

yes this sounds incredible on good speakers so many things i missed listening through my headphones until i put this on on my computer, and these speakers aren't even THAT good
― bish (bosch), don't kill my vibe (rennavate), Monday, 10 December 2012 00:10 (thirteen years ago)
imo it's all about the interaction between the slap bass and those heavy drums. it's the rhythms of late-90s r&b but with a completely different sonic palette.
as far as "Pussy Is Mine", this is all that really needs to be said about its greatness:
