yeah I probably have heard it (listening to the Autry now) sometimes, but 99.1% of my hearing of the song would be in school singing and shopping centre carols and such. I def remember thinking it was some dumbing-down bullshit for sticking one new made-up nonsense-powered dude in as lead and reducing all the Night Before Christmas named reindeer to [omnes], as a kid

when i was in high school he got arrested near my whitebread town (traffic stop, "a small amount of marijuana was discovered"), and a couple loudmouth goon kids in my school had parents who were guards where he was being held. they were briefly very popular for having behind the scenes tales of what a badly behaved inmate he supposedly was, throwing food at the guards & etc. i was 110% team DMX then & now, hope he knocked their teeth out
