that's a really cool album cover

childish bambino (rennavate), Monday, 26 November 2012 19:57 (thirteen years ago)

This new 50 Cent single is truly horrendous. Ugh.

dyslectic Christ Brown (longneck), Monday, 26 November 2012 20:21 (thirteen years ago)

Very nice. P sounds good.

Good job, good multiple efforts (Spottie_Ottie_Dope), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 03:33 (thirteen years ago)

I've haven't listened to any E-40, where do I start? (links would be appreciated, thanks)

afroslack, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 03:49 (thirteen years ago)

Here be a pretty good e-40 thread with links:
There wasn't an E-40 thread

history: mob and function music is dope, but e40's been remarkably consistent putting out like what 200 songs in the last few years?

droop-e is so underrated as a producer, these tracks fucking knock

childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 16:57 (thirteen years ago)

yeah those albums are good, although imo a little short dog goes a long way and it's clearly 40's show to a kind of absurd extent

some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)

true, but i actually think 40 and short dog work well off each other

childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 17:43 (thirteen years ago)

It's clearly an E-40 affair, but too short's presence is really useful. Without him it probably would've been too 'monolithic' or something.

sisilafami, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 17:58 (thirteen years ago)

without him it would've been even more exactly like the last seven E-40 albums

some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 17:59 (thirteen years ago)

which is why his presence elevates it past that

also "cali" on the first disc is amazing

childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:08 (thirteen years ago)

"without him it would've been even more exactly like the last seven E-40 albums"

more like his last 3 imo.

sisilafami, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:11 (thirteen years ago)

i gave up on e-40 this year

D-40, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:16 (thirteen years ago)

then you gave up on consistently good rap music

childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:28 (thirteen years ago)

yeah but it's bay rap, not really deej's kind of thing

some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:29 (thirteen years ago)

there's a diminishing returns thing with most artists at a certain point cf currensy

D-40, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:30 (thirteen years ago)

no yeah i totally feel you, the flood of material is more exhausting than it is exciting at some point

some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:32 (thirteen years ago)

a fair point. i guess i just really like the bay area sound, especially as done by 40. i think history is actually much better than the last few solo e40 efforts, too short is a really refreshing presence

childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:34 (thirteen years ago)

yeah the problem with the triple disc isn't that it's too much music, it is that it's too much music that is no that good.
history is better, as was the revenue retrievin series.

sisilafami, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:56 (thirteen years ago)

i like french montana ft. lil wayne rick ross 2 chainz - marble floors

flopson, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:19 (thirteen years ago)

was there a good french montana tape this year?

flopson, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:20 (thirteen years ago)

I like the new one, Mac and Cheese 3. It's not great or anything but I find that I suddenly kinda understand why the kids love him so much.

dyslectic Christ Brown (longneck), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:23 (thirteen years ago)

interested to see if french's album is going to end up being a bitter industry orgy than the game's album

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:24 (thirteen years ago)

not really but this chinx drugz tape is p good

http://www.livemixtapes.com/download/17839/chinx_drugz_cocaine_riot_2.html

D-40, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:24 (thirteen years ago)

lo i meant "bigger" instead of "bitter" but bitter also works

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:26 (thirteen years ago)

yeah, it's too bad because imo he's the best thing on all these overcrowded tracks and they're giving him some really hot production

flopson, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:28 (thirteen years ago)

marble floors sounded kinda eh to me... not sure why you'd buy a southside track from mike will but okay

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:28 (thirteen years ago)

def gon be a contender in your "worst wayne verse of 2012" poll

some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:29 (thirteen years ago)

The thing is... the THING IS... that they are fucking up majorly by having all these features on his singles. He gets drowned out by them. The kids love HIM. He is easily the most requested artist at rap club nights but the kids don't want to hear Pop That or even Shot Caller remixes. They are requesting obscure solo stuff. And I didn't understand that at all until I gave Mac and Cheese 3 a fair chance and noticed that it's when French is doing his sloppy French thing over semi-sloppy Harry Fraud beats that the tape really comes to life. So yeah. They're fucking up.

dyslectic Christ Brown (longneck), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:30 (thirteen years ago)

seriously? tragic

some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:31 (thirteen years ago)

lol

flopson, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:32 (thirteen years ago)

He's probably getting edged out by Trinidad James right now. But the kids do love him. Soderberg referenced kids singing his songs in the streets in his last Friday Five thing and I believe him. It's kinda inexplicable though.

dyslectic Christ Brown (longneck), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:34 (thirteen years ago)

something tells me he's a-gonna win, though

D-40, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:37 (thirteen years ago)

"all gold everything" is pretty good i guess, feel like i'm a bit numb to that type of hit right now though

flopson, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:41 (thirteen years ago)

yeah when people are like 'its good!' i listen & im like, i suppose this is good, and then have no desire to hear it again
