hello regional thugs
so i decided my early new years resolution was gonna be to make a consistent effort to listen to more us urban radio, for reasons you've probably seen me detail before
if there's any dependable stations / fun mixshows you'd like to recommend i'd appreciate it, doesnt have to be bleeding edge exclusives
listened to a bit of wgci last night (jamal smallz & dj a-oh), nothing yall won't know very well but i really really enjoyed it, haha probably my favourite thing was the radio edit of 'my hoes they do drugs' which is awesome and so jagged it kinda turns it into this bugged-out bounce tune #littledidtheyknow
also something called 'blackout' by someone called agassi, he might've been a bit corny but the beat was cool

― DJ Admiral Crackbar - IT'S THE TRAP!!! (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 26 November 2012 03:43 (thirteen years ago)
I didn't "get" him at first but I watched the "all gold everything" video the other night and yeah I guess the Atlanta version of asap rocky would become famous. makes sense to me. I like that song btw.
― J0rdan S., Monday, 26 November 2012 03:44 (thirteen years ago)
nah his buzz goes a lot further than that
― D-40, Monday, 26 November 2012 03:44 (thirteen years ago)
eh whiney that post is gonna look stupid in 3 months
He panders to the same audience as rocky & in the same way, the music & imagery is just slightly different
― J0rdan S., Monday, 26 November 2012 03:45 (thirteen years ago)
i can see that
― DJ Admiral Crackbar - IT'S THE TRAP!!! (Whiney G. Weingarten), Monday, 26 November 2012 03:46 (thirteen years ago)
there's still a void in ATL... Someone needs to replace 2 chainz now that he's officially on the t.i./jeezy level

'slow down' is one of the best rap songs of the year
― tpp, Monday, 26 November 2012 19:51 (thirteen years ago)
that's a really cool album cover
― childish bambino (rennavate), Monday, 26 November 2012 19:57 (thirteen years ago)
This new 50 Cent single is truly horrendous. Ugh.

I've haven't listened to any E-40, where do I start? (links would be appreciated, thanks)
― afroslack, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 03:49 (thirteen years ago)
Here be a pretty good e-40 thread with links:There wasn't an E-40 thread

history: mob and function music is dope, but e40's been remarkably consistent putting out like what 200 songs in the last few years?
droop-e is so underrated as a producer, these tracks fucking knock
― childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 16:57 (thirteen years ago)
yeah those albums are good, although imo a little short dog goes a long way and it's clearly 40's show to a kind of absurd extent
― some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)
true, but i actually think 40 and short dog work well off each other
― childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 17:43 (thirteen years ago)
It's clearly an E-40 affair, but too short's presence is really useful. Without him it probably would've been too 'monolithic' or something.
― sisilafami, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 17:58 (thirteen years ago)
without him it would've been even more exactly like the last seven E-40 albums
― some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 17:59 (thirteen years ago)
which is why his presence elevates it past that
also "cali" on the first disc is amazing
― childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:08 (thirteen years ago)
"without him it would've been even more exactly like the last seven E-40 albums"
more like his last 3 imo.
― sisilafami, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:11 (thirteen years ago)
i gave up on e-40 this year
― D-40, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:16 (thirteen years ago)
then you gave up on consistently good rap music
― childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:28 (thirteen years ago)
yeah but it's bay rap, not really deej's kind of thing
― some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:29 (thirteen years ago)
there's a diminishing returns thing with most artists at a certain point cf currensy
― D-40, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:30 (thirteen years ago)
no yeah i totally feel you, the flood of material is more exhausting than it is exciting at some point
― some dude, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:32 (thirteen years ago)
a fair point. i guess i just really like the bay area sound, especially as done by 40. i think history is actually much better than the last few solo e40 efforts, too short is a really refreshing presence
― childish bambino (rennavate), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:34 (thirteen years ago)
yeah the problem with the triple disc isn't that it's too much music, it is that it's too much music that is no that good. history is better, as was the revenue retrievin series.
― sisilafami, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 18:56 (thirteen years ago)
i like french montana ft. lil wayne rick ross 2 chainz - marble floors
― flopson, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:19 (thirteen years ago)
was there a good french montana tape this year?
― flopson, Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:20 (thirteen years ago)
I like the new one, Mac and Cheese 3. It's not great or anything but I find that I suddenly kinda understand why the kids love him so much.
― dyslectic Christ Brown (longneck), Tuesday, 27 November 2012 19:23 (thirteen years ago)
interested to see if french's album is going to end up being a bitter industry orgy than the game's album
