funny to see the narcissism of small dicks of ppl who ride for jeremih but not the mixtape

it'd be a pretty decent tape for some new guy but for jeremih it's a not particularly compelling devolution too far into rappy half-singing half-written posing basically

i probably like 'go to the mo' and 'feel the bass' over '773 love', the cuts with marcus fench whoever he be are nice too

i don't think anyone hates the tape but gtfo with putting it on a par

yeah it's perfectly fine for a mixtape but it's just in no way the THIRD BEST ALBUM OF 2012

oh god i went looking for news of an album or mixtape cuz i can only find this in shitty quality and the last news is that tiff evans was pregnant, presumably she has had the kid by now

'u got a woman' was a brains pick at the very beginning of the year iirc

that sound is often employed but rarely dramatised as richly and convincingly, it's really stuck with me as the year's dross rolled by

i guess i just don't think that the production on the old jeremih albums is as idiosyncratic as you guys make it out to be (i really like the second album, but even that one can get same-y & basic) & i think this one stays close to what his sound is rooted in but just is just overall a more colorful, engaging listen.

I thought the Jeremih mixtape was a little scattered/silly at first, but I've been revisiting it over the last week or two and it holds up as its own statement. It's a lot bolder than his albums, and its highs are intoxicating

Jeremih's just an odd duck in general, which is part of what i like about him but it seems to extend to his illogical career arc -- his albums are these hermetically sealed thing w/ one producer and few guests, but the mixtape looks like it was A&R'd by a major, 2nd album spun off one of the biggest hits of his career but there was no follow-up single, started to become a go-to hook singer but didn't seem to capitalize on that momentum in any way, has he even TRIED to push anything off this mixtape to radio? it sounds like he's just having fun on it, which is cool, but it's like damn dude can you focus up.

like most of these other R&B mixtapes and indie stopgap projects at least seem to serve some kind of purpose in going off the beaten path and rallying the base and/or setting the stage for the next radio hit, this just feels like a guy who's ready to make an album but just threw half of it out there with some sketchy outtake type shit.

i used to like the word and the feeling of vibes but it's just a ubiquitous cliché now

you need strong songwriting (like "birthday sex" and "imma star"!) not just a handwavey feeling

i find a sheaf of well written songs on the fire just gives the best smoke for peering through though

I don't really have strong opinions about Jeremih. I liked both his albums alright and like this mixtape alright. Like lex, I have irl friends who are obsessed with this tape and I can't share their excitement. "Fuck U All The Time" is my jam tho.
