sounded pretty good at first but the time he started blathering "not literally speaking but figuratively speaking" i started to tune it out

Terrible song, terrible decision to waste whatever remaining clout he has left to release an album on a reissue of an unloved, sort of hateful mixtape instead of the full length that he insists he has finished

There was. The decision to rerelease 1977 is very strange and very bad. I do love 1977 though, so it's not unloved.

none of the release announcements specify whether it's coming out on Def Jam (which he could mayyybe make happen since he's VP of A&R over there now) or if it's just some quickie thing he's selling on iTunes while The Love IV gets delayed another year.

It's definitely an excuse to delay Love IV. And if he redoes it to give it the type of polish his other albums have, I'll be fine with it being re-released.
I just don't see why they couldn't release it WITH Love IV, as a bonus disc or something, instead. Just doesn't make sense.

Anyway, seeing two Nash/McKinney songs in a row on the new Rihanna album made me very happy.

it's kind of funny how he fell out of favor as a go-to hitmaker with most of the industry but Bey and Rih are just like fuck it he's still cool and keep putting him on blockbuster albums

at this point there's as much a chance that i would go back and listen to 1977 instead of love king, which -- while good in its own right -- is still mostly a noticeably worse version of love vs money

also i just wanna ask something i asked on tumblr earlier, what good r&b jams from 2012 are there which are made for dancing to? proper choreography and everything. fast fast tempo. if there's a video of this, even better. so far i have, like, ciara and dawn and tiffany evans and kalenna.

Ha, according to the wiki page MJ has a writing credit, so that is probably him doing the growl and not CB.

heard some inc. tracks today and i kind of liked them. they have skeletons of really good tracks imo but the production & singing are so thin... i couldn't imagine anyone who actively listens to 'real' r&b jamming this shit. just makes me want to listen to urban hang suite or w/e.

essentially what i'm saying is that it all sounds very demo-y. sometimes demos can be good! if it's your whole aesthetic tho then that's a problem but it's not like i can't recognize the makings of a good song and/or still get some enjoyment out of something that i think still could be much better. i don't think those are warring ideas.

in any event i'm really not insulted by inc. whatsoever. in fact as far as indie r&b goes they're actually at least doing something slightly different opposed to all this druggy post-cassie dubstep remix-wave. like i could imagine a live band playing those inc. tracks.
