I wonder if the fabled "slowed-down drum'n'bass" stuff will be on it. I mean doesn't that already describe "Soon" fairly accurately?

Love the idea of new MBV album being their version of Neu 2.
― Elvis Telecom, Friday, 9 November 2012 00:08 (thirteen years ago)
I just hope it sounds like an early Curve record with more ethereal vocals and maybe some handclaps.

I don't think that describes Soon at all to be honest. Yes, there's a breakbeat, and er not much else. From what I've read the experiments in that area were more about catching the feeling of space, and of the half-time/double-time aspects of jungle.
― Chewshabadoo, Friday, 9 November 2012 01:20 (thirteen years ago)
Forget about this not happening, this just should not happen.

i would bet it's not impossible but fairly unlikely, unless every part of the chain is dropping everything else they're doing (heck, i would)
― site nuances (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 November 2012 05:42 (thirteen years ago)
I'm guessing Bandcamp is not an option, or are they out of any contracts after the reissues?
― Chewshabadoo, Wednesday, 21 November 2012 09:20 (thirteen years ago)
out of contract iirc. their manager should put it out on rocket girl
― site nuances (electricsound), Wednesday, 21 November 2012 09:21 (thirteen years ago)
if vinita could swing that that label would be set. she's had a long difficult road to get to this point, but I admire her more than almost anyone in the music business.

The release hinges on the idiosyncratic work patterns and decisions of Shields, Googe explained. "It will definitely come out as it's pretty much finished," she said. "I mean, it's impossible to talk about time with Kevin, but in terms of percentage-wise, he's got one more track he wants to do then that's it. Everything else is recorded."
So one more track? That puts the album out around ... 2019?
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 6 December 2012 22:56 (thirteen years ago)
track is an hour long
― Twerkin in a coal mine (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 6 December 2012 23:07 (thirteen years ago)

― Twerkin in a coal mine (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 6 December 2012 23:08 (thirteen years ago)
Shields will be playing it once, live, in real time. It'll end when he dies.
― Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 6 December 2012 23:14 (thirteen years ago)
that one more track was finished since that interview iirc
― site nuances (electricsound), Thursday, 6 December 2012 23:23 (thirteen years ago)
There's always just one more track.
Anyway, now we get to the mixing and sequencing stage, which I'm sure will go lickity split.
