I wrote to Souljazz a couple of years back suggesting they reissue it, possibly because it related to their Chicago House set. I got told that Heard would only licence individual tracks. So good to hear somebody's done the lp.
I had the vinyl until losing my record collection around 20 years back.
I'm not sure if that original lp was 100% legit in the first place.

looks like all four tracks off the EP are on the album, so yes, at least some of it will definitely be in the same vein!

is it good? it seems like he's been pretty active for ... several years now? the last thing i heard was "virtual emotion" which i really liked.

There's a nice profile and cover story in this month's Wire.

It's good, (also really long!) with a marked stylistic shift halfway through. Definitely feels like it has a day side and a night side, or maybe a sunset side and a club side. I mean it sounded pretty good even after coming off a day of work and with four hours' sleep so I'm looking forward to hearing it in a more optimal state.

Love Larry Heard but this is waaay too Smooth Jazz in parts, which he has always touched upon in past Mr. Fingers releases, but not so heavily.

Any time I feel like dissing smooth jazz I think of "What About This Love", which is as smooth and jazzy as dance music gets, and I could listen to it all day.

ironically, i think the problem might not be that the smooth jazz is too smooth but that the housey bits are too smooth!

"Introduction" is one of my fave ever albums. To my ears there's a big difference between the jazz playing / textures on that and what I heard on some of this album. New one's way too syrupy for me. But if Najee/ Kenny G's your bag then enjoy!

Back to Love is my favourite Larry Heard. I associate it with good times. It came out to mixed (poor) reviews in the UK dance music media as I remember (Mixmag, Muzik). Larry sings on most tracks. His voice is so delicate and warming. Lyrically it's nothing too special. The later tracks (there are additonal ones on CD) are him in smooth jazz mode.

UK weather is currently providing the optimum listening conditions for this fine lp.

the RA faint praising of this lp is so cloth-eared, it is not that far off something worthy of the "sprawling masterpiece" epithet ffs!

Some of the house tracks are a bit meh but overall it's a good solid album. The smooth jazz tracks at the start totally work and are excellent springtime music, as pointed out above. This is especially worth picking up if you don't have the Mr Fingers 2016 EP because it's all on the album

I really liked Outer Acid so I'm looking forward to checking this out

I had a 3 hr train journey through the Scottish highlands at the weekend and this sounded incredible looking at all the coastlines and countryside. I love how intimate it all feels - the muted drums and the softness of the melodies and chords. Even though it is a really long album it feels like there's not a second wasted - every drum hit or delay effect feels like it's been placed in the exact right moment.

It's only just beginning to dawn on me now how lovely Cerebral Hemispheres is

pt. 2 came out six months ago and I never heard a thing about it! the first one was so incredible I hadn't even imagined a sequel, just sorta read the pt. 1 as a playful ellipsis.
