October 4th was "Superthug" and today is "Flap Your Wings"

srs question: at what point do we all just forward our ballots to a volunteer and run the results sans V79?

By Friday imo so it can get moving by monday next week.

obv it's not a great look for someone to drop off the grid for a while during a time when they'd signed up to run a poll but i really disliked the hostile takeover shit that happened with the james brown poll and see absolutely no harm in people just sitting tight and continuing to vote or talk about the neptunes itt until whenever V79 shows up again. (xpost)

hearing "excuse me miss" on the radio right now and it's reminding me that i always liked this song when i was a kid, and still kinda do :-/

'excuse me miss again' is very high on my list of i knew people would be too stupid to vote for this tracks

yeah that song is pretty dope

that era where the drums had started to go dinky but the synths were still fat and noisy made for some oddly top-heavy beats, which i appreciate more now than i did at the time.

"jigga please" off blueprint 2 being probably the most extreme example

I voted for that and almost voted for "excuse me miss again" but was too stupid, but yeah mainly because I just wanted to throw in one example of that indian summer period of neps beats.

"Excuse Me Miss Again" and "Stop" were also prob the last time I really felt like a Jay-Z fan (which doesn't mean they were his last good tracks).

Also Clipse's "Ego" was probably my highest vote for "awesome late 2002 neps f**k shit up beat".

haha i had a friend who hated "Stop" so much, i still think it's enjoyable in a lightweight way

Unless it was just on account of its squealiness, it seems odd that someone would get really worked up about "Stop" given it would have been stastically impossible not to dislike at least five tracks on The Blueprint 2.

yeah but it and "La-La-La" came out as the two new tracks for the single disc reissue -- said friend was the first person i knew who was like 'ok my hopes are not that high for The Black Album'

If The Black Album had been all lightweight bangers I think I would have liked it more.

so i was thinking that i wouldn't mind counting votes & rolling this out before ilx Y-E polls or we can just wait until that's over and get to this at the end of jan or feb if V79 isn't back by then

yeah there's plenty of polls going on now, should prob wait til the new year. also not to be too dramatic but afaik nobody here has any way of knowing whether V79 is out there and okay or not, feel like it's kind of callous for everyone to constantly be all 'what about our precious poll results.'
