Thank you for your comments to me. The words I know are true and said very beautifully. I am waiting for my heart to get over the loss. I know I will at least partially someday. I went through our cd's and found his cd's and a DVD of Foreigner and will spend some time today enjoying them and memories of him. berrylyn 1 year ago 2Lyn, I'm so sorry. Let me return a hug you passed to me few days ago. Thanks you for the kind comments then. It is very stressing for the surviver to review our lost love ones personal items, lingering imaginations, thoughts of reasons, purpose of each item smothered deeply in each container. I don't touch anything anymore, leaving it the way my wife placed it 12 months ago. Stay busy and with others.twoZJs in reply to berrylyn 1 year ago

from this thread:
Def Leppard was, is, and always will be bad ass. i have every cd and music video, my fav tune and video shall always be "bringin on the heartbreak" . it was me and my fiance's song, not for the words, but we loved the powerful emotion it conveyed. my fiance was killed in an auto accident, decapitated by a drunk driver. my friend and i busted our guitars out and played "bringin on the heartbreak" and "in time" by robbie robb(our other fav song) in her honor, but noone except her and my parents understood what i was doing, thought i was damning her. any way, def leppard is totally bodacious, i pray they don't sell out like most of the 80's bands these days
― Poliopolice, Monday, 29 October 2012 00:34 (thirteen years ago)
there are so many "my fiance was killed in a car accident and this was his/her favourite song" comments i get kinda skeptical of them

― some dude, Monday, 29 October 2012 01:17 (thirteen years ago)
is it skepticism or is it that you're just tired of seeing them? It wouldn't surprise me that loss of a special person would trigger really strong sense of nostalgia and sadness when someone hears a particular song. I can't think of why someone would lie/exaggerate about this particular type of nostalgia.
― Poliopolice, Monday, 29 October 2012 15:52 (thirteen years ago)
i think it seems like such a perfect sob story if someone were going to make one up that at a certain point you wonder if it's possible for that many automotive fatalities to happen to people while they were engaged to be married

ya exactly.
i just use the smell test.
i like to use stories that have specific interesting details, which also makes them seem more likely to be true.
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Monday, 29 October 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago)
this is pretty specific (though, obv not from youtube).
killed in an auto accident, decapitated by a drunk driver. my friend and i busted our guitars out and played "bringin on the heartbreak" and "in time" by robbie robb(our other fav song) in her honor, but noone except her and my parents understood what i was doing, thought i was damning her.
― Poliopolice, Monday, 29 October 2012 16:58 (thirteen years ago)
specific but... "busted out our guitars" doesn't pass the test for me.
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Monday, 29 October 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)
plausibility depends on whether they busted out their guitars immediately after the accident, feet away from the disaster
― Victory Goon (some dude), Monday, 29 October 2012 17:00 (thirteen years ago)

good entry
grew up in mn and that event and song has a sort of weird place in my mind, a sad legend that kind of haunts lake superior.
my parents had gord's gold on vinyl and i used to listen to it when i was a kid, that song had a lot of impact on me, it really felt like the world of music opened up to include the sad and scary and mythological events of the world...of course the song i hear now isn't necessarily how the song was to me at the time, but it's got a certain power still

[the 1988 tv movie 'Bring Me The Head Of Dobie Gillis']
as a small boy in the 1960s my mother and I watched the reruns of this show and reruns of make room for daddy and Donna Reed and so on. I have nothing but good memories watching all the vintage sitcoms. Now I'm a late middle aged man only three years away from 70. My parents are dead and I'm pretty much alone. Lord what I wouldn't give to go back to the 60s. I would go insane if it wasn't for my two chihuahuas laying by my side. Thank God for my pets and thank God for YouTube.

@prappsy5 years agoMy Dad always joked about how he wanted this played at his funeral. Then in 2018 he took his own life, only a few months before Keith did the same thing. Me and my brother wanted it played at the cremation service but we got overruled (I guess it may not have been to everyone's taste!). Shame as it would have been a great way to honour his sense of humour. At least we got to play it at the wake.

man some songs really bring this out, can barely get myself to quote from the comments toFive for Fighting - Superman (It's Not Easy) (Official Video) but yeah, it's all stuff like:
I can't listen to this song without crying my eyes out! It reminds me of my little girl! When she was 9, we used to listen to this song. It seemed like it was her and I against the World! Today, almost 20 years later, my daughter is struggling with heroin addiction and I don't know how to help her! If you're reading this, please say a little prayer for my little girl!
