Reminds me of when I was a freedom fighter, in South America. I found myself skydiving for what felt like forever... all the time. Hell, I'd commandeer choppers, just so I could get in the air and jump one more time. The solitude always saved me.Into installations I'd fly, alone and silent, to save lives, to destroy illegal arms... [...]

Thank you for your comments to me. The words I know are true and said very beautifully. I am waiting for my heart to get over the loss. I know I will at least partially someday. from this thread:
Def Leppard was, is, and always will be bad ass. i have every cd and music video, my fav tune and video shall always be "bringin on the heartbreak" . it was me and my fiance's song, not for the words, but we loved the powerful emotion it conveyed. my fiance was killed in an auto accident, decapitated by a drunk driver. my friend and i busted our guitars out and played "bringin on the heartbreak" and "in time" by robbie robb(our other fav song) in her honor, but noone except her and my parents understood what i was doing, thought i was damning her. any way, def leppard is totally bodacious, i pray they don't sell out like most of the 80's bands these days

is it skepticism or is it that you're just tired of seeing them? It wouldn't surprise me that loss of a special person would trigger really strong sense of nostalgia and sadness when someone hears a particular song. I can't think of why someone would lie/exaggerate about this particular type of nostalgia.
― Poliopolice, Monday, 29 October 2012 15:52 (thirteen years ago)

ya exactly.

i like to use stories that have specific interesting details, which also makes them seem more likely to be true.
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Monday, 29 October 2012 16:50 (thirteen years ago)
this is pretty specific (though, obv not from youtube).
killed in an auto accident, decapitated by a drunk driver. my friend and i busted our guitars out and played "bringin on the heartbreak" and "in time" by robbie robb(our other fav song) in her honor, but noone except her and my parents understood what i was doing, thought i was damning her.
― Poliopolice, Monday, 29 October 2012 16:58 (thirteen years ago)
specific but... "busted out our guitars" doesn't pass the test for me.
― Author ~ Coach ~ Goddess (s1ocki), Monday, 29 October 2012 16:59 (thirteen years ago)
plausibility depends on whether they busted out their guitars immediately after the accident, feet away from the disaster

good entry
grew up in mn and that event and song has a sort of weird place in my mind, a sad legend that kind of haunts lake superior.
my parents had gord's gold on vinyl and i used to listen to it when i was a kid, that song had a lot of impact on me, it really felt like the world of music opened up to include the sad and scary and mythological events of the world...of course the song i hear now isn't necessarily how the song was to me at the time, but it's got a certain power still

@lookaspoland2 years ago (edited)Tears in my eyes. I was poor young polish immigrant in Holand. Lonely. Hard working. I slept on the floor in some warehouse and rent bike and drive to Nijmegen at sunday. I was walking on the streets of night city. Alone. And i listened this song. After years im businessman in Poland. And again im lonely. Even if not poor anymore. I feel like our world went wrong brothers and sisters. I feel do weird but i want listen this song still.

Aram Khachaturian - Gayane Ballet Suite (Adagio)
"My parents were already fighting like cats and dogs when I was 8 and they sent me off to see 2001 at the movies in 1968. The D word had been thrown around already in one horrific, childhood ending evening in one memorable contention.
It's never good to be eight and first learn what it is to truly be alone, isolated, on your own adrift in incomprehensible sorrow and terror. The Gayane gave my pain a voice and helped me survive."

(Some extra words in there, sorry).
Patrick Swayze - She's Like The Wind
Man these words from this song hit home.Met my Girl in 1984 in the 9th grade hallway. She was way out of my league but I had something that made her feel special. We rescued each other from mutually terrible family lives. We had a incredible marriage that just got better every day.Sadly cancer stole her from me this year at age 52, way too young.I tried so hard to fix it and took care of her best I knew how.She was afraid that I was going to leave her but I would have died protecting her.Now that she’s gone I’m just in a fog and feel like half my soul is gone.I’m sure she knew this would be the case as she always looked ten steps ahead. She insisted I find love again and remarry.I’m not sure it’s out there.I think I had my shot and it was what every man could dream of.Finding that again seems impossible.I was broken when she found me and here I am again.I’m just thankful I have my grand kids that I just adore and love them extra for her too.

He was planning to move out to Ravenna, and work on his music away fro the hangers-on and the self-destructive jerks who plagued his life in Cleve. He said he was working on some ideas for our new sound. And he signed it "I will see you sooner than you think, Love Peter" I didn't get that letter until the day of his funeral. I will see him never again. Never again. And as ridiculous as it may seem, I still cry about that, after all these long and unsuspected years.Thank you for posting.

Apex Twin - Rhubarb
"Yesterday my grandmother fell asleep. Today she never woke up. She used to tell me a story how her mother passed away. One day she brought her food and the next day she found her laying in the bed with her hands together under her face like kids do when they sleep. Her mother was 99 at the time. Today my grandmother was lying in the bed in the same exact position at the age of 98. I am grateful that she went so peacefully while dreaming. Grateful for the countless memories and for the infinitive love she was always sharing. I love you yiayia. Have a great trip. One day we'll meet and I'll hug you again."

[the 1988 tv movie 'Bring Me The Head Of Dobie Gillis']
as a small boy in the 1960s my mother and I watched the reruns of this show and reruns of make room for daddy and Donna Reed and so on. I have nothing but good memories watching all the vintage sitcoms. Now I'm a late middle aged man only three years away from 70. My parents are dead and I'm pretty much alone. Lord what I wouldn't give to go back to the 60s. I would go insane if it wasn't for my two chihuahuas laying by my side. Thank God for my pets and thank God for YouTube.

@prappsy5 years agoMy Dad always joked about how he wanted this played at his funeral. Then in 2018 he took his own life, only a few months before Keith did the same thing. Me and my brother wanted it played at the cremation service but we got overruled (I guess it may not have been to everyone's taste!). Shame as it would have been a great way to honour his sense of humour. At least we got to play it at the wake.
