Is it really? I mean I haven't been following Nicki much as of late but I can't remember anything else I've heard from her that sounds this mature. It's nice to know she can strip away the growls and snarls and monotone babbles and create something great w/o relying on all of these borderline-goofy affectations.

IMO the borderline-goofy affectations are what make her interesting/distinctive/worth listening to

it's like saying "oh man, listen to this amazing new Busta Rhymes track, he raps really slowly on it and doesn't roar like a dungeon dragon once"; who goes to Busta Rhymes for that?

Well sure, you can have your own signature things and all but there are different levels of specificity and after like 20 or so singles w/ signature things that are so specific it starts to get a bit "eh". I mean, I don't dislike her or anything, I just don't find it so compelling anymore, and it's nice when she can pull off something else so flawlessly.
