admittedly my statement is kind of vague but how do u mean?

I don't really read any camp in his songs... his delivery seems very serious to me. And then you have things like that extended phone conversation at the end of one song... Idk

i mean i'm still playing it too but i think calling it camp is pretty generous -- he comes off to me as someone who couldn't get a girl till sophomore year of college and relentlessly shits on women as an adult as a result

so i buy the "playing it up to an extreme" thing, but i'm not sure that makes it more acceptable

well obviously it does b/c you're listening to it

at very minimum, u tolerate it

i actually don't think there's much going on w/ this in terms of "power dynamics" -- i don't buy his pimp shtick

the songcraft on this is incredibly strong and it wins out over the pretty gross content for me -- it's a testament to his talents in that regard than anything regarding his persona not being as bad as it seems

anyway it's not a cop out -- in general i fall far on the side of the argument that music doesn't have to agree with my morals. this pushes right up against that and if he wasn't a great writer i wouldn't really feel the need to keep engaging with it. i'm trying to figure out how to feel about it.
