do ppl vote in these polls based on the production alone or on the song as a whole

i think that's harder to seperate for the Neptunes than for most, especially since Pharrell wrote so many choruses. i have a Neptunes instrumentals mixtape that was really kind of disillusioning, how much less alive some of their tracks feel with the vocals stripped out (in a way that i don't get all the time w/ rap instrumentals).

doing more of the spotify list and wow 2008 looks downright embarrassing.

yeah i was always somewhat neptunes skeptical or at least thought they were overrated, greatly preferred timbaland, but i have to admit this stuff still sounds great and not to get all youtube commenter but man do i miss these guys dominating radio.

neptunes stuff from the last 5-7 years shows you how close to incredibly corny they were with shit like "beautiful" but man when they hit this kinda sound it worked so damn well

Oh for sure, one thing that has been surprising to me as I've been digging around is how many Neptunes productions actively irritate me.

"Am I High" is top 5 for me.

looking over the discography in chronological order i kind of re-lived what a heartbreaking fall-off late 2003/2004 was. "Change Clothes" was a real shark jump moment.

"money maker" is no joke one of my least favorite songs of all time. hate that beat/hook. that whole era of ludacris is just... so depressing.

I dont think thats a bad list. Got love for plenty of those.

Everything from 17 is ridiculously great but there's some serious junk blocking the upper reaches of that chart.

"Signs" was a total flop in the U.S. for some reason -- maybe urban radio had some anti-Justin sentiment since that was the first thing he dropped since the Janet incident, but pop radio didn't touch it either. i blame "Let's Get Blown" for blowing the "Drop It Like It's Hot" momentum.
