ok. from reading the recent posts i'm reckoning this poll is jamaicanist so i'll leave out the lee perry even though i frequently fly down the road in my t-top firebird listening to it screaming 'OMG THIS FUCKING RAWKS'?

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 5 October 2012 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

the blow up was recorded in '78 so it's fair game

xps

space dokken (Edward III), Friday, 5 October 2012 19:07 (thirteen years ago)

Does this count? Much of it's basically Stones + Springsteen territory:

Patti Smith Group - Easter

xpost
Did I nominate something that was on there already? I tried to check before each nom.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Friday, 5 October 2012 19:08 (thirteen years ago)

John McLaughlin - Devotion

EveningStar (Sund4r), Friday, 5 October 2012 19:09 (thirteen years ago)

thx for the spreadsheet ag!

balls, Friday, 5 October 2012 19:09 (thirteen years ago)

Brian Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets

Not sure I'd support any other Eno albums but this one's a noisy rock album imo. Fripp's solo on "Baby's on Fire" alone should seal it.

EveningStar (Sund4r), Friday, 5 October 2012 19:14 (thirteen years ago)

Radio Ethiopia is the Patti Smith album that fits for this poll imo so -
Patti Smith - Radio Ethiopia

The Dictators - Go Girl Crazy

Sock Puppets II (Mr Andy M), Friday, 5 October 2012 19:28 (thirteen years ago)

Brian Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets

Not sure I'd support any other Eno albums but this one's a noisy rock album imo. Fripp's solo on "Baby's on Fire" alone should seal it.

I wanted to nom this and Taking Tiger Mountain but the Tosser-erateri scared me off. It's all gotta be be fucking rock music and you are a dick to suggest anything else :(

Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Friday, 5 October 2012 19:29 (thirteen years ago)

AG : devo is in the spreadsheet twice for same album, are we not men.

also, cant believe only one bowie album has been nom'd so far.

or, is the whole point of this to highlight albums that dont get the love they deserve ?

mark e, Friday, 5 October 2012 19:29 (thirteen years ago)

but the Tosser-erateri scared me off. It's all gotta be be fucking rock music and you are a dick to suggest anything else :(

maybe because, like the 80s poll , its a rock poll

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 5 October 2012 19:32 (thirteen years ago)

Amon Düül II - Wolf City
Ramones - Road to Ruin
Pink Fairies - Neverneverland

thought about eno, decided i wouldn't nominate but would be happy if someone else did

balls, Friday, 5 October 2012 19:33 (thirteen years ago)

could a mod please change thread title to Nominations for a 70s ROCK Albums Poll

we can dump the rolling stone part.

Algerian Goalkeeper, Friday, 5 October 2012 19:35 (thirteen years ago)

fwiw would love if some ilxor started a 70s hippie folk & singer songwriter poll. walking dogs just now thought that a 70s tracks poll of artists that belong nowhere near this poll but have a couple of tracks that totally would fit eg 'all the girls love alice' by elton john, maybe doesn't have to be a poll but just a thread, but on that basis those first two eno albums would have like at least 60% of their tracks on there so they totally qualify i think, at least as much as siren for sure

balls, Friday, 5 October 2012 19:38 (thirteen years ago)

maybe because, like the 80s poll , its a rock poll

The weakness is that you widen or contract your claws on what is 'rock' when it suits you. Need more wider minds.

Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Friday, 5 October 2012 19:39 (thirteen years ago)

Sorry that sounds like a sack of shit! Not had a cigarette in 4 days and am going insane but still mean it!
