i like these attempts to broaden the poll's boundaries to the point of meaningless. maybe the whole thing will be called off, or turned into another 'alternate' poll where nothing that made the first 2 polls is eligible.

hey guys is this an "anti-rolling stone" canon poll because....stuff like modern lovers, stooges, led zep, and bowie are all totally rolling stone canon albums, and all made the rolling stone 100 greatest albums of all time list that i read so religiously over and over as a kid

like neil youngs rock albums are in but harvest isnt. Im stuck with tonights the night as it might not rock like the others yet the spirit of it just fits perfectly (same with beefheart)

i get the feeling that algerian goalkeeper has never read rolling stone and just assumes that their 100 greatest albums list is 100 eric clapton albums?

"one album by ____ only" makes no sense unless there's some serious musical/heaviosity difference between that album and the rest of the artist's catalog. which there definitely isn't with the Stones, it's just arbitary. all or nothing, man.

I feel like the 'anti-rolling stone' thing is kind of a misnomer - these polls to me have been about 'music that rocks' in a kind of Joe Carducci-via-Chuck Eddy kind of way, in opposition to stuff that doesn't really rock although it might feature guitars or other signifiers of rock music (Rudipherous explained all this better upthread iirc).

in this poll the stooges will be top 10, whereas in the RS list they were prolly mid to bottom half
